UPDATE: RCMP have confirmed an investigation is underway at Universal Ostrich Farms. There has been a lot of concern raised about the number of ostriches on the farm. Specifically that the number is far lower than it should be. Sgt. Mike Rude (retired) has been gathering evidence which was delivered to rcmp this morning with Katie and family. The investigation is ongoing and I will provide updates when they are provided by RCMP.

UPDATE from Universal Ostrich Farms: Mike and I took FOB SMITH to the RCMP command post. There is a lot of fencing and a lot of bins there today but far less vehicles and police than usual. There is still no official ostrich count and no indication that CFIA or RCMP will be doing one. Mike and I are continuing to gather evidence, we are looking for the truth. There is zero transparency here and a lot of things in place that make it appear there is something to hide. CFIA or the RCMP could easily put many of these questions to rest with a count of the birds and a sliver of transparency.

OP BINWATCHING is underway. There has been serious, and I believe credible, concern raised here at Universal Ostrich Farms that the number of birds here is low and possibly dropping. Sgt. Mike Rude (retired) has been collecting evidence and has provided that to the RCMP along with a sworn affidavit. The RCMP have confirmed that they have begun and investigation and that it is ongoing. However, they have also stated to the family that they do not plan to do an independent headcount and will rely on CFIA for information. We know for certain that one ostrich has already died here while under the "care" of CFIA and under the "protection" of the RCMP. A simple headcount could clear this up and relieve a lot of stress on the family and the public following this story. I don't know if there are birds missing yet, but many people do and the evidence I've seen from Mike and with my own eyes makes me inclined to think something is off. If there are birds missing, we are going to do our best to prove it and if there isn't, that would be the best outcome. More to come.

Update from Universal Ostrich Farms The last of the fencing is coming down, only skeleton crews remain. According to an RCMP officer I spoke to, the RCMP are not expecting to be here when the night shift starts. Judging by what I see, it looks like the CFIA and the RCMP will surrender these seized properties and leave today.

It looks like the cfia might be getting ready to head out during the night. The RCMP are likely to remain while the fences are taken down. CFIA, RCMP, it's time to leave and let this family grieve.

When Katie and Mike attempted to make contact with RCMP, they were ignored. Liaison offices were nowhere to be found, but they were there at the legion last night when Mike and Spark were kicked out. After some delay, Katie was given word that RCMP would meet her and Mike at 0800 tomorrow morning. Updates to follow.

Lunch break for the RCMP There are two shifts of RCMP officers that are on site here for 12 hours plus they have a commute 2 hours each way making 16-hour shifts. Can you imagine the cost of this operation? The police should be doing police work!

Universal Ostrich Farms Update - 12 November, 2025 Days after the mass slaughter most of the CFIA agents and their RCMP paramilitary protection force have left the farm. A skeleton crew remains as fences are torn down and allegedly contaminated hay from the killing fields is dragged all over the yard and driven out onto the highway. Once the CFIA and RCMP leave the farm there will be a lot of work to do to document what's left behind for the family and supporters to begin picking up to pieces of their shattered lives. The hay bale kill pen, soaked with the blood of hundreds of ostriches remains. The extreme biohazard that necessitated this mass slaughter seems not to be a concern anymore as the rain leeches blood into the water shed. This is escalating very quickly... The RCMP are patrolling the Mark Carney event, demanding people identify themselves and kicking them out even if they are invited or registered. The RCMP also kicked out at a number of independent journalists and denied entry entirely to a number of people. Why is the RCMP gatekeeping for unelected Mark Carney? Does this kind of behavior remind you of anything?
