Amarachi Chinedu and Salahat Abubakar… remember them? The two underage girls Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu found fetching during school hour at Anthony area of Lagos in February 2022… they reconnected with Sanwo-Olu today after four years of their encounter with the Governor. They met during the launch of “Lagos Education Access Fund” today at the State House, Marina. Amarachi, now 13, from Abia State, dropped out of school when she was in Pry 4 due to family’s financial difficulties, while Salahat, 14, from Jigawa State, was never enrolled in school following his parents’ relocation to Lagos. After the encounter that morning, Gov. Sanwo-Olu personally took up their education and upkeep. Amarachi, now in SS1, attends Immaculate Heart Comprehensive High School in Maryland, just as Salahat is now in JSS1 in the same school. “I won’t leave you again,” Sanwo-Olu told them after today’s meeting.
