This pastor is telling parents to leave California if AB 495 passes. The bill is so crazy, even I didn’t believe the 1st reports. Here’s the shocking details every parent should be concerned about. A non-parent adult (such as a friend, teacher, mentor, neighbor, or coach) can self-declare they have a "family-like or mentoring relationship" with the child or child’s family. That person can then sign an affidavit under penalty of perjury stating the child lives with them and they are acting as the caregiver. The affidavit does not require a parent’s signature or court approval. It grants that person legal authority to: Enroll the child in school Consent to medical, dental, and mental health treatment Providers (schools, doctors, etc.) who rely on the affidavit are protected from liability, even if the parent later objects — unless the provider had actual knowledge the affidavit was invalid.
