Think about an elevator. You press one button, the doors close, and you arrive at your floor. You don’t think about the cables, motors, sensors, or software making it happen. You simply trust the system to get you there safely. That’s what driving will feel like for the next generation. They’ll enter a destination, press a button, and let Tesla FSD handle the road. They’re going to look back at us and be shocked that humans once controlled two-ton machines at high speeds with nothing but their hands, feet, and attention… and accepted thousands of preventable deaths as normal. Manual driving won’t disappear overnight, but one day it will feel as outdated as manually operating an elevator in today’s world. You won’t think about driving. You just press a button and you simply arrive. Tesla FSD is truly one of the most consequential technologies of our lifetime.

I flew my drone through Austin while riding in a Tesla Cybercab. No driver. No steering wheel. No pedals. Nobody up front. I got in, set my temperature, pressed one button, and the car took me where I wanted to go. That’s it. The closest thing I can compare it to is an elevator. You don’t get into an elevator and think about who’s operating it. You press a button. The doors close. You arrive. Cybercab felt exactly like that… except it was moving me through Austin. And after experiencing it, I keep coming back to one thought... How does Uber compete with this long term? An Uber is still built around a human driver. You’re getting into somebody else’s car. Their music. Their smell. Their temperature. Their mood. Their driving style. Maybe they want to talk. Maybe they’re on the phone. Maybe they miss a turn. Maybe you just want to sit there quietly and get where you’re going. Cybercab removes all of that. The car pulls up. The doors open. You get in. Set the cabin the way you want it. Press Start Ride. And go. No awkward small talk. No tipping. No wondering who is picking you up. No driver needing to earn enough $ money from the trip. No business model built around constantly finding, paying, and managing millions of human drivers. Uber’s biggest asset today is its driver network. But in a world where the driver disappears… what happens to that advantage? Tesla builds the vehicle. Tesla builds the autonomy. Tesla controls the software. Tesla controls the app. Tesla can operate the network. And Cybercab itself was designed from day one around the passenger instead of around somebody sitting behind a steering wheel. That is a completely different model. Uber connects you with someone willing to drive you. Tesla is trying to make the driver unnecessary. Those are not the same game. And once Cybercabs become abundant, I'm talking in the millions, I think calling a stranger to come pick you up in their personal car is going to start feeling incredibly old-fashioned. That was the biggest thing I took away from riding Cybercab. It was how quickly every other ride-hailing company stopped feeling futuristic. After a few minutes, it just felt normal. And once transportation becomes that simple, I have a hard time seeing why anyone would choose anything else...

Driving around Austin, Texas with my 5-year-old and 8-year-old when we spotted a driverless Tesla Cybercab in the wild. So naturally… we started chasing it. My kids grabbed the phone and filmed the whole thing. This is literally their footage. And then it hit me… They may be two of the youngest kids in the world to ever see a driverless Cybercab operating on public roads. Something they would not see today if they were at school today. I don’t think they fully understand how big this moment is yet. They just see a cool car driving itself. But this is the world they’re going to grow up in. A world where cars drive themselves, Robotaxis pick you up, and transportation looks completely different from what Daddy grew up with. To me, this feels like the future. To them, it might just feel normal. One day they’ll look back at this video and realize they were there when that future was just beginning.

The Tesla Cybercab launch was magical. I’ve spent years talking about what autonomous transportation would become. This week, I got to live it. And what surprised me most was NOT that the Cybercab had no steering wheel. It was NOT the butterfly doors. It was NOT even how futuristic the car looked. It was honestly how NORMAL it felt. I just get in. Sit down. Put my seatbelt on. Press one button. And go on w/ my life. No fear or anxiety at all. At one point I literally forgot there wasn’t a driver in front of me. The ride was unbelievably smooth. And that’s when it really hit me… this is how transportation changes… when the technology becomes so seamless that you stop thinking about the technology at all. The entire Cybercab experience is ridiculously simple: 1/ Order the Cybercab from your phone. 2/ It arrives, recognizes your phone, and can automatically open the door for you. 3/ Get in, buckle up, and the doors close. 4/ Press one button on the screen to begin the ride. 5/ You can work, talk, watch something, listen to music, enjoy the scenery… do whatever you want bc the car handles the entire driving. 6/ Arrive, get out, and payment is handled automatically via the app w/ no tipping. That’s it. Some people are probably still going to say: “Elon was late.” “FSD will never work.” “Tesla is still just a car company.” “Who would trust a car w/ no driver?” “Who would ever get into a car w/ no steering wheel or pedals?” “Cybercab/Robotaxis will never scale.” I’ve heard versions of this stuff for years… And yet here I was. Sitting inside the product. Paying for rides. Driving around Austin w/ nobody behind the wheel. After experiencing Cybercab myself, I understand what the Tesla team was building toward. The car. The autonomy. The safety. The software. The app. The pickup experience. The doors. The payment. The entire experience had to feel like ONE product. Bc if Tesla gets that experience right and then scales it across America, this becomes MUCH bigger than another Tesla vehicle. It will change how people think about owning a car. It changes ride-hailing. It changes what we do with the time we currently spend driving. It changes transportation. And I think Tesla absolutely knocked this product out of the park. What makes this even more personal for me is how grateful I am that I was invited to experience this moment. As the only Korean in the world, being invited to the launch and getting the opportunity to be the first one to ride in a Cybercab is something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Seriously. What a freaking life… hate me or love me, nothing honestly compares to this. Austin… Your food was incredible. The people were unbelievably kind to me. The city treated my family and me so well. I loved almost everything about you, except the heat. And Tesla and Elon… Thank you. You have genuinely changed the direction of my life. You gave me something I am deeply passionate about. The products. The technology. The people building them. The crazy ideas that sound impossible right up until the day they’re sitting in front of you. Today I head back to the Bay Area. But my mind can’t stop thinking about what I just experienced. There was a point when people started saying Tesla’s biggest growth days were behind it. After this week… I feel the exact opposite. Cybercab reignited that fire in me. It feels like I just watched the first few minutes of the next chapter/book of Tesla. And if what I experienced in Austin scales to cities around the country… Transportation will NEVER be the same. One day my kids will look back at human-driven cars the same way we look at an elevator operator today. Something that once seemed completely normal… until technology made it unnecessary. I came to Austin excited about Cybercab. I’m leaving even more excited about what comes next. The future is going to be so freaking amazing. Till next time, Austin!

Having no steering wheel or pedals in the Cybercab makes a much bigger difference than I expected. In a Waymo or even Model Y robotaxi, you’ve got a steering wheel turning and an empty driver’s seat you can’t sit in. It keeps reminding you that someone/something is missing. In the Cybercab, there’s no reminder that there should be a driver at all. They’ve taken all that stuff away, and you I felt much more relaxed, comfortable and safer. Also, the video-watching (ie., Youtube) experience in the Cybercab is something you just need to experience to understand. For 30 minutes, I almost forgot I was in a car… I think it’s the combination of no driver controls, the huge 22 inch screen, great sound system, spacious interior and being able to lean back and adjust the seats to whatever angle. You start to realize how much of a normal car is designed around the person driving. Once you remove that, the whole experience opens up.

These two hotel workers decided to put their phone into the elevator, they were going to race it to the bottom. So they prop the phone against the wall of the elevator and pushed the ground floor button and ran for the stairs. What makes this peculiar is when the elevator made it to the ground floor first, the door kept closing and opening as if someone was there, if you listen you can even hear a woman’s voice say “mmm.” I know some may say this could be an example of the paranormal, but could there be a reasonable explanation for this?

I just press a button… and my Tesla takes me to my destination. No stress, no constant steering, no thinking about every little turn. It just drives me safely there. And honestly, it’s hard to explain this feeling to someone who hasn’t experienced the latest software yet. It’s freakin 2026... If your car isn’t electric and can’t take you from parking lot to parking lot by itself, it's like using a flip phone with a keyboard… or riding a horse in this era. That might sound dramatic, but once you see what’s actually happening behind the scenes, it starts to make sense. When I activate Tesla’s Full Self-Driving, the car is doing far more than simple cruise control that other car companies show off... it's really funny when I see them advertise it tbh. My Tesla is literally watching the world around it with eight cameras that give it a full 360° view. All that video feeds into the onboard AI computer inside the car, which is constantly analyzing everything around it like cars, lanes, pedestrians, traffic lights, construction zones, and making decisions in real time. Tesla has millions of cars on the road, and every single one is helping train the system. Even when people are driving manually, the AI is running quietly in the background predicting what it would do in that situation. And when something unusual happens, a weird intersection, a sudden obstacle, an unexpected move from another driver, that short clip gets sent back to Tesla’s data systems. Engineers then use those clips to train the next version of the driving AI. And that updated AI then gets pushed back to every Tesla through a software update. And honestly, it’s hard to explain this feeling to someone who hasn’t experienced the latest software yet. It’s freakin 2026... If your car isn’t electric and can’t take you from parking lot to parking lot by itself, it's like using a flip phone with a keyboard… or riding a horse in this era. That might sound dramatic, but once you see what’s actually happening behind the scenes, it starts to make sense. When I activate Tesla’s Full Self-Driving, the car is doing far more than simple cruise control that other car companies show off... it's really funny when I see them advertise it tbh. My Tesla is literally watching the world around it with eight cameras that give it a full 360° view. All that video feeds into the onboard AI computer inside the car, which is constantly analyzing everything around it like cars, lanes, pedestrians, traffic lights, construction zones, and making decisions in real time. Tesla has millions of cars on the road, and every single one is helping train the system. Even when people are driving manually, the AI is running quietly in the background predicting what it would do in that situation. And when something unusual happens, a weird intersection, a sudden obstacle, an unexpected move from another driver, that short clip gets sent back to Tesla’s data systems. Engineers then use those clips to train the next version of the driving AI. And that updated AI then gets pushed back to every Tesla through a software update. I was the first Korean in the world to take a ride in a Tesla Cybercab, and I’m incredibly proud of that. 🇰🇷 You can probably tell from these raw, unedited videos just how excited I was getting into it for the very first time. No steering wheel. No pedals. No driver. Just me getting into a Cybercab and trusting it to take me where I needed to go. Even now, it still feels surreal that this is actually live and operating in the real world. I’ve followed Tesla and believed in this future for 10+ years, so getting to experience it firsthand, being one of the select few to be invited to the launch event, and represent Korea while doing it… is something I’ll never forget. These are the raw moments from my very first ride. You can see it from my reactions… I was like a kid experiencing the future for the first time.
