The consequences eventually return to us through polluted water, flooding, disease, and the loss of healthy ecosystems. I reflect a bit on what the Hindu Dharma teaches us about nature. In Western thinking, humans are normally placed ABOVE nature. We can kill animals, destroy nature, burn down forests at will. In historic Indian thinking humans are PART OF nature. The old Indians venerated nature. A dip in holy rivers like Ganga, is a Godly act. God is even half human half animal - as Ganesh and Hanuman. Mother Earth doesnt depend on humans. We depend on Mother Earth. It’s time to understand the wisdom of the ancient Indian thinking.
