Is there an ETA when Safari will green light view transitions? I just launched the first iteration of a PWA. And I was thinking... when view transitions land you really don't need to create a native app.

They’re stable now in Safari Tech Preview so I expect them in the next major version of the regular Safari.

Hi buddy, Need a suggestion. My PWA is installing fine via Chrome on Android devices - when I open the installed app it opens as an app, not in a browser. On iPhone when I add my PWA to the home screen, hitting the app icon opens the app in Safari, not it's own app

Safari now supports the standard Web Push API, only the interaction with the notification itself is still limited.

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work. This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public. There are rumours it is considering introducing a 'commercial research exception' for AI training. This would be disastrous. It would mean handing the life's work of British creatives to AI companies for free, to train their models on. In the House of Lords today, a government minister refused to rule this out. To be clear, this would amount to legalising theft. It would fly in the face of public opinion on what is fair, and would mean a surrender of British creatives' work by this Labour government. It would mean the lobbying by big US tech firms had succeeded, and the protests of the UK's creatives had been ignored. People's work is not the government's to give away. If you're in the UK and you care about creatives and the creative industries, please write to your MP!

Rory already shared the finished time-lapse on his Instagram page. This is what came before it. I want to take you inside the creation process. About 20% complete. Six months of work started here. Probably one of the hardest drawings I’ve ever done. And honestly, most of what you’re looking at right now doesn’t even matter yet. It’ll all change. This part is just about getting the foundation right. And at this point, none of the crazy stuff is even in yet. Scroll through the images to see the early progress. No crowd. Not much detail. No atmosphere. Just structure. I also included a video so you can see the pace of drawing a piece like this. Rather than engaging in what sounds like a sort of tautological tap dance around the issue, will the Minister simply be honest with the House? If we are involved, what is the Government’s plan to secure the Strait of Hormuz, and what British assets will be deployed to ensure freedom of navigation through that critical route? The difficulty here is that this Government said it would not be involved in this conflict, yet within a day it allowed the US to operate from British bases. Whether Ministers like it or not, that decision effectively brings the UK into the war. Given that reality, I find it hard to understand the Government’s reluctance to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. The Strait of Hormuz is already central to this conflict and is one of the most vital shipping routes in the world.

What is important to note in the case of Justice Sreedharan is three aspects: institutional integrity, perception (of independence), and the worth of law not only as a doctrine but also in practice. I feel that there has been a failure in all three counts. The executive has no role as far as the functioning of judges is concerned. The only involvement which justifies the executive's participation in the process is giving information about judges, which is otherwise not available to the court or the institution... When you are dealing with a sitting judge, no matter what your perception of the judge may be, that is part of the judicial realm. As long as there is no want of judicial integrity or honesty, or any breach of propriety by the judge concerned, it is beyond the executive to interfere... What has been released by the court suggests that Justice Sreedharan's transfer was shifted from Chhattisgarh to Allahabad due to the executive's interference. If something is prompted by the executive and a decision is subsequently re-engineered by the court, the entire process is compromised. That is not how it is supposed to work... Transparency has to fuel belief, not extinguish it, in the efficacy of the process..."
