New police radar monitoring vehicle to be used by the Ghana Police on our roads. Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, and Deputy Minister, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, were taken through one of the Traffitech-GH operational vehicles that will be used for the system's enforcement operations by the Ghana Police Service during their working visit to the National Road Safety Authority.

The Teok-Sivasagar Highway is an important road in the Jorhat region, critical for boosting connectivity. Work for several portions of the road has been ‘ongoing’ for the past several years. The condition of the road is deplorable. From frequent accidents to long traffic jams, this portion is affected with several issues. Several contractors have been brought in and left the job mid-way. Multiple tenders of work have been issued, to no effect. People are facing severe inconvenience. I urge Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari to intervene and take immediate action. Shri Gadkari has visited Jorhat in the recent past. I’m optimistic that he will take the necessary steps to ensure work is completed at the earliest and people don’t have to suffer indiscriminately.

During yesterday’s heavy traffic congestion along the N1 Highway, a group of motor riders stepped in to call out the indiscipline of several drivers who had turned around and begun driving against the flow of oncoming traffic. The group called on the Ghana Highway Authority and other relevant agencies to take immediate action against the drivers over their disregard for road safety laws and regulations.

Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, along with representatives from the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund, the Namibian Police, and other stakeholders, this morning visited the site of an accident involving four pedestrians yesterday. This visit took place on the B1 road between Katutura and Chinatown in the Northern Industrial Area, to observe traffic flow. The visit aims to address ongoing safety concerns, as motorists frequently hit pedestrians while they cross the B1 road. Yesterday, four people were struck by a vehicle on the road, all of whom sustained multiple injuries and are currently hospitalised. The team assessed the situation to identify short-, medium-, and long-term solutions to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists. Minister Nekundi directed the immediate deployment of law enforcement to control pedestrian movement and vehicle flow. This starts today from 16:00 to 19:00, repeating daily from 6:00 to 8:00 and 16:00 to 19:00. Stakeholders will continue engaging in long-term measures. Pedestrians and motorists are urged to adhere to police directives in the meantime. The area is prone to both road accidents and robberies. The road construction on Princess Park Street has been progressing quite well and we grateful for the continued support and patience of the community and road users. The final road layer is in progress and it is anticipated that the surfacing be completed by Friday 12 December 2025. The safety of the road users is the core priority and it is for this reason that the Roads and Transport will implement pre-markings and install temporary stop signs for the entire festive season as the road will be open for traffic soon. As the MMC for Roads and Transport I have visited the site on regular basis since the commencement of construction ,to ensure that the set milestones and commitments to the residents of Tshwane are fulfilled.
