Professional adult athletes needing a bed check is ridiculous.

As someone with trouble sleeping I completely understand. Someone waking you up doesn’t just take 5 minutes. It could take another 1-2 hours to get back to sleep. Some people can’t get back to sleep at all.

I gave Harrison smith a ride to the airport one time after he played a few rounds of golf at a course I worked at in Texas. Chopped it up the entire ride and the dude was going to download cash app just so he could tip me since I didnt have Venmo. I told him no worries! Solid!

Schmitt: Who knew jack Smith was a Caitlin Clark fan? We had information he was at a basketball game. There was only one NBA game that night which is why I asked him if he was in Atlanta. He answered the question. That's what these hearings are for. You ask questions, you get answers. Smith has perjured himself before, but he says he's at the game. Maybe he's a Caitlin Clark fan. We'll accept that.

Carmelo Anthony says the Rockets told him his services were no longer needed the night before a game. "I get the call. Get back to the room, he tell me my services is no longer needed. I called CP: 'Did you know about this?' He said, 'No." "He pulled up on me. The next day, we playing San Antonio." "They tell me, look, you can either come to the game, but in your street clothes, like sit behind the bench and support the team,or you can fly back to Houston and wait until we tell you what you can do next."

Paul Pierce says he didn’t know Deni Avdija name before the season started: “I didn’t know this guys name until about a week before the All-Star, then I was like alright he’s a All-Star, who’s this kid? And I know his name now. You got to earn your name in this league, I don’t care if you have a couple good games. Like, show me something. You know he mad the All-Star team out of Portland and I didn’t think Portland had anybody that’s All-Star worthy coming into the season. So, I’m taking notice to that. Then you play in the All-Star, then I check this game and I’m like alright, okay. Deni Avdija he’s a threat in this league, he’s a true threat.” (Via No Fouls Given)

Allen Iverson says he scored 55, then got suspended the next game because somebody told his coach they saw him out at 5AM “Let me tell you what this dude [Jim O’Brien] did to me. I had 55 in the game the night before, then he called me in his office” “My friend said he seen you out at 5 in the morning last night. I’m suspending you for the game in Miami. I mean… you trying to keep us from winning too?”

Norris Cole on LeBron James’s legendary Game 6 performance vs the Celtics in 2012: “Like live in real life — that might’ve been the best performance I’ve ever seen…I saw him get 61 against Charlotte but that’s a regular season game — this (game 6) if we lose the season is over and the big 3 is broken up. If we don’t win it’s over…LeBron could’ve went for 50…there was no answer for him that night…that was the first time I never seen him laugh or smile before the game. Not once. Not that day…his legacy was on the line and he did what he needed to do to secure any talk…” (via Run Your Race Podcast)

Joe Johnson says if he’s the Houston Rockets I’m taking that gamble on Russel Westbrook teaming back up with Kevin Durant: “I’m taking that gamble because look, think about this. Even if Fred VanVleet, I’m sure he will start the season, but damn, he just come off of ACL surgery. Y’all going to run him in the ground for 82 game. And what he going to be able to get you in the postseason? Nothing. So, you got to have some depth at that point guard position. Guys who know how to play, guys who know and understand the game and who can make the game easy for guys around him. So, I always think, bro, and when you look at him because he up in age, he always in great damn shape. And for me, y’all know me, bro. I’m a guy who loves a guy in great shape. You’re in great shape. You can play with me any day.” (Via Nightcap)

Donovan Mitchell on the night he scored 71 on Chicago: “We played them on New Year’s Eve. Then we had New Year’s in Cleveland. Then we played the next day. Now I will say this. I’ve never drank before a game in my life. It was New Year’s. So I did have a drink, a few drinks the night before the game. Never done that in my career. Haven’t done it since. So I tell people like that was probably what, you know, allowed me to have the night I had.” (Via Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady)
