🇷🇺 Russia’s Yakovlev makes another fully domestic passenger plane, a Yakovlev MC-21. These planes were developed with many Russian parts pre 2022, but now Yak reworked the model and swapped everything for Russian parts. The aircraft had its imported components and systems replaced with Russian ones. The procedure of swapping every part of a plane for domestic components is extremely complex, as this has not been done before. Usually you iterate on a plane part by part, not doing such a big bang change. This procedure includes replacement of the cockpit controls, control system drives, wing mechanization movement system and stabilizer adjustment mechanism, avionics complex, integrated air conditioning system, integrated system for collecting, monitoring, processing, and recording flight information, wheel braking system, main and auxiliary power units, fuel system, wheels, tires, and more. The plant workers, together with specialists from the flight test and refinement complex of PJSC "Yakovlev," are checking the fuel system, start-up and operation of the auxiliary power unit and main engines, as well as testing of the aircraft's systems and equipment with the engines running. Frequency tests of the landing gear systems and integrated control system were also carried out on the aircraft. 1/

The first campaign Viktor reviewed caught problems we didn't even know were there. We're a digital marketing team managing campaigns across multiple ad platforms, and before every launch someone on the team would manually check tracking, landing pages, targeting, budgets, creatives, and campaign settings. During this taxi test, the aircraft is fully controlled from the ground control station. The test verifies the correct integration and performance of the braking system, steering function, navigation sensors, and commands from the control station itself. Why is this key? It confirms the seamless interaction between hardware, software, and vehicle dynamics. It also validates the aircraft's ability to maneuver safely on the ground before progressing to high-speed taxi trials and the subsequent flight test campaign.
