Cadillacs and Dinosaurs é do mesmo ano (acho possivelmente o melhor nesse estilo).🙂 Ambos inspirados em Renegade e Double Dragon, os pais desse gênero.

Why is Konami sitting on all of these classic Arcade games? Plenty that are unlicensed and could be ported by Limited Run or to Evercade.

There's a boss wearing parts of an Power loader from Aliens, who on death says, "It's burning, the machines are frozen." It's just too good.

I forgot to describe it; I had absolutely no idea that it was part of the "Crime fighter" series, but now that you mention it, it's true there is a resemblance in terms of the universe...👍🏻

In 1993 Konami dropped Violent Storm, beat 'em up chaos with co-op street brawls and non-stop action. Smash through enemy waves in pure arcade mayhem that kept the coins flowing. A 90s brawler that still hits hard.

Nostradamus for arcade (Face/1993). Vertically scrolling arcade shoot-'em-up loosely based on the prophecy of a great leader coming from the sky in July 1999. Overshadowed by classics like Raiden and Aero fighters, still a cult-classic and an underrated gem for fans of vertical shooters. Arcade exclusive, no home ports or modern re-releases as far as I know.

The Simpsons Arcade Game (1991) is a classic side-scrolling beat 'em up by Konami featuring cartoon graphics and 4-player co-op. Goal is to rescue a kidnapped Maggie across Springfield locations. Also has brand new recordings by the show's voice actors. Among the three best-selling arcades of 1991, together with Street Fighter II and TMNT: Turtles in Time. Ported to the Commodore 64 and MS-DOS PC in 1991. Later released digitally for the Xbox 360 (Xbox Live Arcade) and PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Network) in February 2012, though it was later delisted.

Vendetta for the Arcade (originally known as Crime Fighters 2 in Japan) is a 1991 classic Konami beat-'em-up. It allows you to attack enemies while they are on the ground, and features a wide variety of weapons and items that make the fights highly dynamic. A cult-classic, though it was largely overshadowed by massive hits like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Simpsons.

Gaiapolis for arcade (Konami/1993). An overhead, fantasy-themed beat-'em-up mixed with light role-playing and adventure mechanics. It looks great, has nice character design and is very compelling. Bonus points for throwing a tank or armored vehicle in the middle of my fantasy quest. A cult classic, never ported to home consoles.

Mystic Warriors for arcade (Konami/1993). Run and gun ninja game from the team that did SUNSET RIDERS - which is actually being shown on the drive-in theater right before the first level boss there! Nice and underrated: no home versions during the 1990s. However, it finally received its first-ever home digital release on December 21, 2023, through Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives series for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Double Dragon (1987) – who was a fan? You play in a post-apocalyptic world as brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee, punching, kicking, and brawling through city slums, factories, and hideouts to rescue Billy's girlfriend Marian from the Black Warriors gang. To this day, one of the best beat 'em ups in co-op mode. The big character sprites, badass soundtrack, and the ability to pick up dropped weapons like baseball bats, whips, and knives made it an excellent game. I wonder if it maybe influenced others like Final Fight or Street Fighter?

Did you know this was Konami’s highest-earning arcade title ever? EVER! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1989), developed and published by Konami, is based on the popular 1987 animated series. You and up to three friends can simultaneously control Leonardo (katanas), Raphael (sais), Michelangelo (nunchakus), or Donatello (bo staff), each with unique stats like attack range and speed. You fight thugs and bosses to rescue April and Splinter from Shredder and Krang. Not the most complex story ever... but rather typical for beat 'em ups. A standout feature was the cooperative four-player mode, with players standing side by side at the massive cabinet, each with their own control panel. The cabinet's sheer size and instantly recognizable theme song always stood out, even in a crowded arcade. Genius concept by the way. The "peer pressure" to insert another coin to rejoin when you died (and your friends were still playing) was real.

Hachoo! (ハチュー！ / 破兆), released in 1989 by Jaleco, is an obscure Japanese arcade side-scrolling beat-’em-up. It is of interest to retro gaming historians for being an early example of a game that had an into-the-screen-throw. Interestingly its release predates Konami’s Turtles arcade game (with a similar mechanic) by just less than a month. The title sounds like a sneeze but is intended as a Chinese-style karate yell (similar to “hi-ya!”). The kanji 破兆 roughly conveys “broken omen,” tying into the premise. The game is set in ancient China where an evil force or demon is trying to break free from a stone statue/prison.

Rushing Beat Ran (Jaleco/1993) is a 2D side-scrolling beat 'em up for the Super Nintendo. Fast and fun, it's the second game in Jaleco's Rushing Beat trilogy. In the West, it was heavily localized and stripped of its cutscenes, released under the title Brawl Brothers. But it's possible to unlock the original by pressing the B, A, X, and Y buttons repeatedly during the Jaleco logo screen until it will glitch. Then, press right to move the glitched screen right, then press down 3 times and then Start to access the (glitched) options menu. There, the game starts to work normally as Rushing Beat Ran afterwards.

The roots of SNK fighting games really come from the Fatal Fury series. It grew side by side as a rival to Street Fighter II, and it’s honestly an iconic series. These days, it feels like it’s been absorbed into The King of Fighters series, but with the recent release of Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the legacy of Fatal Fury is finally continuing again. If you grew up in the arcade era, there’s a good chance you loved this series.

Out Run turns 40 this year. In 1986, this game introduced a ton of cool new features. It was the first arcade cabinet with a steering wheel featuring force feedback to mimic road surfaces, plus pedals and a gear shift. It was also the first to let players choose from three synth-pop tracks (Magical Sound Shower, Passing Breeze, and Splash Wave) via an in-game radio to personalize the vibe. It simulated real Ferrari Testarossa traits (horsepower, torque, and gears) and allowed skillful drifting - or bad drifting, in my case. The road would fork (left/right) at certain intervals, also a first for its type, giving the player choice and making it more interactive. Out Run ultimately became Sega's top-selling arcade game in 1987.

Exactly four decades ago, an absolute legend of gaming history was released - happy 40th birthday, Out Run! Developed by Sega and released on September 14, 1986, Out Run introduced several new features at the time. It was the first arcade cabinet with a steering wheel featuring force feedback to mimic road surfaces, plus pedals and a gear shift. For a little kid, this was beyond epic. Another cool fetaure (a "choose your own adventure" if you will) was the forked road at certain intervals, giving the player a choice and making it more "interactive." Out Run topped the arcade charts and ultimately became Sega's #1 selling arcade game in 1987.
