Hubble Records Wandering Black Hole That Swallowed a Star NASA astronomers have recorded a rare event using the Hubble Space Telescope and other observatories — a tidal disruption event (TDE) involving a wandering black hole. The model depicts a black hole with a mass equivalent to 4.3 million solar masses, comparable to the central black hole in the Milky Way. The simulated black hole has an event horizon extending 25 million kilometers. The video demonstrates the approach to the black hole from a distance of 640 million kilometers to its complete collapse. You can see how the space around the black hole appears and is distorted, as well as the accretion disk and photon ring.
