Is it BAD for society that average looking women are not attracted to average looking men? Here you have an average looking woman, claiming the ratio of attractive women to men is 100 to 1. Why don’t average looking women want to be with average looking men? Or is it the case that women overestimate their own and other women’s attractiveness and underestimate men’s attractiveness? Put in other words, women are very generous when assessing their own, and women’s attractiveness, but are very harsh when assessing men’s attractiveness.

I’ve seen two misperceptions about women’s age & mating on X, from both sides of the aisle. 1. “Men want younger women to better control or manipulate them.” Probably true of some men, but a poor general explanation for men’s preference, here, as adolescent boys and men typically prefer older women. A better explanation for why men generally prefer younger women is simply that women’s fertility peaks relatively young. 2. “Basically all men would date someone 18-25 if they could.” Definitely true of some men, but in both stated and revealed preferences, most men do not want massive age gaps for long-term relationships. On average, adult men prefer someone a few to several years younger depending on their age. Nothing crazy. (This misconception is often caused by people treating results on “who looks best” as meaning “who do you want to have a relationship with.”)
