GFS weather model latest forecast of upper air temperatures continues to bring warmer air further North towards Ireland later next week. Other models have a much briefer blast of warm air. Either way it will be a hot spell for many parts of Western Europe. Parts of Portugal, Spain and France hitting over 40!

While we have fresher air to start the week the weather models show the air mass over much of Western Europe will go from below average to back above average pretty quickly. Heat is likely to start building back in by the weekend and into early next week. How hot it will get is unclear yet but we could see mid to high twenties in Ireland again. Spain and Portugal over 40c is possible in parts again this week.

The latest upper air temperature forecast here shows the edge of the plume of hot air over Europe moving away from Ireland. It will also ease off in France later in the coming week and ease a little in Portugal and Spain later in the week.
