WATCH: “A slippery slope… probably the wrong move…” Oklahoma Republican Markwayne Mullin, a “strong Christian”, says unless they’re requiring public school teachers to go to seminary school they shouldn’t require them to teach the Bible — contrary to superintendent Ryan Walters.

@HC_Richardson @SenMullin So how are teachers going to find time in between assisting in sex change operations and all.

@SenMullin i mean, a teach might read ezekiel 23:20 to her students without context. “There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.”

@HC_Richardson @SenMullin You don’t want them to learn from teachers. You want teacher to program them using the Bible? Then teach all of it. The rapes, killing, homosexuals, murdering of babies, stoning etc. All of it

@SenMullin What is the “right way” to teach the Bible? I learned history in OK so I could be wrong, but wasn’t the founding principle of religious freedom based on a disagreement about the interpretation of the Bible? Wars have been fought over this. Is this what we’re doing now?

@SenMullin Do you suppose Sen. Mullin might find it in his heart to strongly enforce the U.S. Constitution?? . . . . or is that way too much to ask in this era of ignoring the laws???

@SenMullin Mullin mentions Assemblies of God. What if the public school teacher is Lutheran, or Presbyterian, or Catholic? Just as there are multiple versions of Christianity, there are multiple versions of the Bible. Who decides which version is the "true" one?

@SenMullin Interesting! That has occurred many of us! It also occurred to many that teachers have specialities and being a biblical scholar isn’t one of them!

@SenMullin That isn’t teaching the Bible though, that’s teaching Christianity and his preferred version of it. Clear indoctrination without even the false disguise of history. Keep religion out of schools.
