Danielle Smith says Alberta’s new proposed pipeline to the West Coast is more than an energy project, it’s a test of whether Canada even functions as a country. If BC or Ottawa block Alberta again, the answer is clear: Canada doesn’t work for us. #AlbertaIndependence

WATCH: With Alberta Premier Danielle Smith set to announce what she says are steps forward on a new pipeline to the West coast, BC NDP Premier today rejected any proposal outright: “It's not just a threat to our pristine coast that so many British Columbians, including myself, value. But it is a direct economic threat to the kind of economy that we're trying to build in the country here.” “There is no project. There is no bridge to cross - unless the Albertan government, and the federal Canadian government, are committing billions of taxpayer dollars to build this project. And if that is the plan, then they should be transparent about it." “Don't mistake my politeness for weakness on protecting our economy and our coast.”

Fred Matiang’i: Discipline is destiny. If we are not disciplined, we are not going to run a country. All these jokes we keep telling each other about going to Singapore, we are going nowhere if we are not running a disciplined and effective government. This is impunity; there is law-breaking that shocks you. These guys asked for an opportunity to lead the country, not to loot it. Their president is elected to govern the country, not to own it. What you see going on is an attempt to own the country, and that is totally different from governing a country #CitizenSundayLive

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is upbeat after another meeting Mark Carney as the Liberals announced they are looking to make changes to expedite processes for big projects. "I know industry is getting a bit impatient, Albertans are getting a little bit impatient. And if we're going to to move forward with that MOU, I hope it happens in the the next number of days because I I think in Alberta there does need to be a demonstration that Canada can work. And I think that we've demonstrated a couple of things over the last number of months that we can work well together. We've changed course on a number of things and Alberta wants to continue to build major projects in partnership with Canada." Industry is getting impatient because of the unnecessary costs and red tape they face while there is nothing but lip service. The central part of the MOU is Alberta agreeing to all of Mark Carney's green agenda items as permission to do business and build projects. How is this going to change?

The question is: what kind of country do we want to have? I want a country where Americans that work hard are able to get ahead, raise a family, and lead fulfilling, productive lives. If we can’t get that right, we will not succeed as a country.

Speaking with Quebec's business community, I explained why past politicians and their destructive, anti-Alberta policies created legitimate grievances and caused many Albertans to lose faith in Canada. Our job now is to restore that faith. That's why we're working with Prime Minister Mark Carney Mark Carney, CPC Leader Pierre Poilievre Pierre Poilievre, Premiers across the country, and industry leaders to reverse harmful policies, build nation-building projects, and grow our economy. As provinces, we should champion one another's success and support each other's economic aspirations. That's how we build a stronger Alberta, a stronger Quebec, and a Canada that works.

One of my jobs as Premier is to prove Alberta can be strong and prosperous within Canada. We’ve spent months negotiating with the federal government and have come to an agreement that includes the cancellation of the oil and gas production cap, and the net-zero power regs in Alberta. My hope is that as we work to implement this agreement, and advance a new million barrel per day oil pipeline to Asian markets, Albertans will see a bright future as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.

I stand with Premier Danielle Smith in defending Alberta’s interests, and in the October referendum I will be voting for Alberta to remain a proud province of Canada. Alberta deserves a strong voice, fair treatment, and leaders willing to fight for the province. It is possible to support Alberta and advocate for respect from Ottawa, while still believing in a united country. #Alberta #Canada #UnitedCanada #ProudlyAlbertan #ProudlyCanadian #AbPoli #CdnPoli

We have homes to build, teachers to pay and a healthcare system in crisis in Alberta, meanwhile Danielle Smith is more focused on conspiracies. Let's get serious and get to work Premier.

David Maraga: Ruto’s government has failed Kenyans. I have offered myself to lead a team that is going to come with the fundamental transformations of the governance system in this country. We will stop the extractive system and get the country back to where it is supposed to be. We are going to get the Constitution respected and complied with. If we don’t start with stopping the looting of public resources, we are going to lose this country. Let us come up and get registered as voters and vote this government out #CitizenExplainer Yvonne Okwara

James Moore calls it like it is "Albertans on a per capita basis have given more to confederation than any group of Canadians in this country by far." "And they've done it for a couple, two, three generations." "And they have a federal government right now whose time is ticking that has actively campaigned against their province, against their core industry, that is 1/3 of Canada's exports to the United States." "They've blocked pipelines." "They've put in place regulations that are designed to be poison pills to stop the export of Alberta oil to global markets so they can get world prices so that we can bring that money back to Canada and create Canadian jobs and pay Canadian taxes to build Canadian hospitals, schools and Canadian roads." "Albertans want to do their part for Canada, and they have for a long time." "Canada should do its part for Alberta and the west as well."💥 James Moore Danielle Smith

I really don't get this attitude. Alberta is proposing a pipeline to the West Coast to export oil to overseas that will bring billions to Canada's economy and diversify our exports - both things that the Liberal government claims it wants to do but acting like it's not in national best interest and an Alberta thing. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson: "If Alberta wants to be a proponent for a pipeline, that's their right to do so. They need to meet the 5 criteria...when they will bring that project forward we will take a look where they are and evaluate it any other project. Tanker ban? It's hypothetical question." Why not be proactive and be part of the solution? They know that their red tape is what stands in the way and will not bring any confidence to the private sector.

We are who we are as Canadians because we take care of each other. And that's the Canada New Democrats want to keep building. A Canada where people matter, where workers matter, where human rights matter, and where everyone can afford a good life. If Trump wants to pick a fight with us - he's got another thing coming. As Canadians, we are proud of who we are. And as New Democrats, we won't let anyone take it away.

I need Danielle or someone from her team to explain this to me because this isn't making sense. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith: "Let's have an aggressive target to double our population." Smith wants to get Alberta's population to 10m people so we can be taken seriously by the federal government. Huh?! We barely have the infrastructure to sustain current population. Our water infrastructure in Calgary is falling apart. Alberta is already the province of choice for people to move to and it's creating mass unaffordability in the rental market and housing. Alberta is already full of LMIA scams and leading the country in unemployment. Why do we need to destroy our province and make the mistakes other provinces made to peacock for the federal government?

This Filipino Albertan supports Alberta independence because he recognizes what is happening in Canada. He came here in 1994. He loved Canada. He raised the Canadian flag proudly. But now he says this is not the same country anymore. Government overreach. Fear of speaking openly. Rising costs. Politicians who take more and give less back to the people. Many immigrants came to Canada because they wanted freedom, opportunity, and honest government. When they start warning us that Canada is beginning to look like the places they left, we should listen. Alberta independence is about recognizing the direction Canada is going and choosing a better future before it is too late. I support Alberta independence.
