A 21-year-old woman was allegedly murdered in broad daylight at the BC Road bus stand in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday evening, sending shockwaves across Karnataka. The victim, identified as Lavanya, a resident of Kakkepadavu, worked at a private nursing home in Kalladka. Police said the accused, identified as Chethan, allegedly attacked her with a machete after she repeatedly rejected his advances. He was arrested within hours near Vamanjoor-Pacchanadi on the outskirts of Mangaluru following a coordinated police operation. A woman died and her husband was severely injured after a speeding car rammed their scooter at Mamledar Wadi Junction in Mumbai's Malad West on Sunday night, police said. According to Malad police, the car, allegedly being driven rashly by 65-year-old Krishna Chamankar, rammed into the couple’s Activa. The accident took place around 8pm, when Mayank Shah, 35, and his wife, Priyanka, who was a lawyer, had stopped at a traffic signal while returning home through Malad Subway, police said. Police said Surya was enraged by Amrutha's decision and had warned that he would not spare her for rejecting his brother's love. On July 13, a confrontation reportedly broke out at Amrutha's residence. During the altercation, Surya allegedly attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the chest and back before fleeing the spot.
