Blockchains provide the road, but applications collect the tolls. Real revenue drives long-term sustainability.

base layer networks are basically becoming infrastructure plays while all the actual money is in apps built on top. but "twice as much revenue" — are we counting total fees or actual profit? because most of those apps are still bleeding money on incentives. revenue ≠ viability

That makes sense honestly. Layer 1s are like roads, apps are where the money flows.

Finally, someone saying it. Base layers are commodities. Revenue generation is the moat. Why dual-token models matter: one token for the utility layer (apps), one for the reserve (infra). Without this separation, you're subsidizing validators while developers leave.

Tracks with what's happening in RWA: DTCC is already running live tokenized settlement for blue-chips and Treasuries, but the base chain isn't what captures that value. Custody, compliance, and distribution at the application layer are where the economics actually land.

The rails got built. Now the real competition is what people actually do on top of them.

The road never makes the money. The shops along it do. Everyone wants to build the layer underneath because it sounds permanent. Almost nobody wants to stand where the person actually is. Which one are you building this year?

It makes sense that financial apps are starting to stand out as the next major growth area.

Этот сдвиг важен. Инфраструктура построила рельсы, но теперь экономику начинают забирать приложения. Следующими победителями могут стать продукты, которые делают крипту полезной, не заставляя пользователя вообще думать о блокчейне под капотом.

tbh apps capturing value was always the endgame, infra is just the toll road
