🚧 [WATCH] | N2 CORRIDOR CONSTRUCTION The machinery being used to construct the N2 from Ermelo towards the KwaZulu-Natal border represents a new level of road construction technology. Imported from Germany, the specialised machinery has the capacity to lay approximately 350 metres of concrete road per day. The project...

What is the cost per kilometer compared to a conventional tarred road with properly prepared under-layers, and the maintenance cost and comparative lifespan? Whenever we see something like this, we worry about corruption and ANC cadres scooping.

One kilometre in three days? Is that efficient? 100 kilometers in one year? 🤓🙆🏿‍♂️

So we see in this video many people 90% of whom are standing around seemingly doing nothing while machines are operating. Surely we can better manage productivity

Why so many people? I’m sure this German technology needs about 2 people to lay the road, and certainly won’t need 4 guys with trowels. I bet it wasn’t bought from the Germans directly. There must be a dozen cadres in the middle doubling the cost

...but it is not good for employees as they kneel, bend their back and stretches themselves to reach the ground. Basic Conditions of Employment doesn't encourage such. It possesse a risk to employees to twist their joints & or fall on the mud which might endanger the eye....

NLC starts work on Dedicated Freight Corridor & Multimodal Logistics Park, Pipri 🇵🇰 Due to absence of rail-based freight transportation system at Karachi Port, congestion of containers has become a routine problem resulting in slow cargo movement & negative impact on economic activities. Heavy road traffic has also led to increased environmental pollution & damage to road infrastructure. The construction of Dedicated Freight Corridor and Multimodal Logistics Park at Pipri offers a long-term solution to these challenges. Ground breaking ceremony of Dedicated Freight Corridor was held with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Group Chairman and CEO DP World, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem attending as chief guests. NLC will complete the project in multiple phases with USD 400 million Foreign Direct Investment. The first phase is scheduled for completion within four months. The project includes rehabilitation of a 52-kilometer railway corridor from Karachi Port to Pipri Marshalling Yard along with development of a modern Multimodal Logistics Park. It is aligned with the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Pakistan Railways’ ML-1 Project. Upon completion, import containers will be transported directly by rail from Karachi Port to Pipri and onward to destinations across Pakistan, China, Central Asia and other regional countries. The project is expected to significantly reduce container congestion at Karachi Port, streamline cargo movement, accelerate economic activity and bring marked improvements in traffic management and environmental conditions.

SOKOTO–BADAGRY SUPER HIGHWAY: TURNING A DECADES-OLD VISION INTO REALITY For decades, the idea of a major highway linking Nigeria’s North-West to the South-West remained largely a vision. Today, that vision is taking physical shape. The 1,068-kilometre Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects being pursued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The significance of this project goes far beyond the construction of another road. It is about connecting markets, opening up agricultural communities, strengthening regional trade, improving mobility and creating a strategic economic corridor between the North and the South. The highway will run from Illela in Sokoto State, near the Niger Republic border, through Kebbi, Niger, Kwara and Oyo States, before reaching Badagry in Lagos. And the work is already visible. In Kebbi State, which hosts the longest stretch of the project at approximately 258 kilometres, construction is progressing with concrete pavement, earthworks, drainage and other major engineering works. As of May 2026, 19 kilometres of concrete pavement had been completed, while Sections 2A and 2B had reached approximately 40% and 16% completion respectively. In Sokoto State, work is also progressing on a 120-kilometre section from Illela, forming the northern end of this strategic corridor. What makes the project particularly significant is its design. The Federal Government says the corridor incorporates concrete pavement technology, CCTV surveillance and street lighting, with the aim of delivering a road that is not only durable, but safer and more economically transformative. For the North-West, the potential impact is enormous. Agricultural products such as rice, tomatoes and onions can move more efficiently to markets. Farmers can gain easier access to equipment and commercial centres. Traders can move goods across regions with greater speed, while communities along the corridor can become more connected to wider economic opportunities. There is also a wider agricultural dimension. Government officials have linked the corridor to irrigation infrastructure and dams that can support year-round farming and food production, strengthening the economic potential of communities along the route. This is why the Sokoto–Badagry project matters. President Tinubu did not simply inherit a road project and leave it on paper. His administration reviewed the design and masterplan, made adjustments, awarded contracts and moved the project into active construction. The project may take time to complete, but the most important fact is this: A vision that remained unrealised for decades is now being built on the ground. From Sokoto to Badagry, Nigeria is building a new economic connection between the North and the South. The vision was old. The construction is happening now. Renewed Hope. Building the connections that move Nigeria forward.

IPERU–ILISHAN ROAD ENTERS FINAL ASPHALTING STAGE The reconstruction and dualisation of the Iperu–Ilishan Road has reached a major milestone, with binder and wearing course asphalt now being laid across sections of the corridor, marking the project’s entry into its final stage. This 5.3-kilometre strategic road, which links Iperu to Ilishan and serves as a critical connection to the Gateway International Airport and the Sagamu–Benin Expressway, has progressed beyond earthworks, extensive drainage construction, and stone-base layers. With active asphalt works ongoing, the road is visibly taking its final shape. We note the steady pace of work delivered so far, including completed drainage systems and stabilised base courses that provide a strong foundation for long-term durability. Upon completion, this road will significantly improve mobility, enhance safety, reduce travel time, and stimulate commercial activities for communities along the corridor and airport-bound commuters. With the completion of this road and the Sagamu–Sapade Road, the Gateway International Airport will become one of the most easily accessible airports in Nigeria, seamlessly connected from the North, South, East, and West. This integrated road network is central to our plan to position Ogun State as a major logistics, aviation, and investment hub. We remain committed to delivering a high-quality, durable road that meets top engineering standards and supports our broader agenda of strengthening infrastructure and accelerating economic development across Ogun State. #BuildingOurFutureTogether #InfrastructureDevelopment #GatewayInternationalAirport #OgunState #DapoAbiodun
