[WATCH] ANC UPLOADED NAMES ON TIME AND SOME WERE KICKED OUT DUE TO TECHNICAL GLITCHES “We did upload all of the candidates, it’s important to assure our members, supporters and our community that participated in the candidate selection process that took place. We did upload all of our candidates from all the nine provinces and regions on time. The 28th of August was the final day of submission of the final list, why it took place then is because the ANC undergoes an extensive process of vetting and interviewing and holding community meetings, all of this take time. We are very robust in how we’ve improved our candidate selection process. The very last portion of the batch is when the system started kicking them out. That was before 5 o’clock. We are not discussing here a lack of compliance on the part of the African National Congress with regards to meeting the deadline but a batch of names on the uploaded list that were kicked out. We are asking the IEC to consider for submission all those candidates who had already been captured in the IEC system but were kicked out. The second thing we are asking is to get to the bottom of why the very last batch was kicked out. We are asking for an investigation and this will get us to the bottom of the issue. This ties in with the question of are we fighting with the IEC? We are not. We respect and continue to have the full confidence in the integrity of the IEC run processes. It continues being one of the most important institutions and hallmarks of our democracy and that is why we hope that a constructive engagement can take place and an investigation on whether there were technological challenges that were not foreseen” -ANC SPOKESPERSON MAHLENGI BHENGU

#WATCH | Chandigarh | Jaswinder Kaur Bath, wife of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, who was allegedly assaulted by Punjab Police personnel in Patiala, says, "We went to meet DGP Gaurav Yadav, but he was busy. We waited for one and a half hours, but then he left without meeting us. He is an army officer's son, but he still did so... I am raising my voice just because my son said that he would not stay in this country as it is not worth staying. I had to prove to him that justice would be given... Then, we went to meet the governor, and he had tears in his eyes when I spoke to him and when I showed him the pictures and the brutality. He called the DGP and told him that FIR is my right with all the names and to please do what is needed. The governor then told us that if the FIR is not registered, we should get back to him. I want to thank the governor for standing up with us. I came to know through the media that SSP Nanak Singh had said that a magisterial inquiry had been set up, but the FIR could not be changed... Today, when everyone was standing up with me, all the politicians started calling me, but I didn't pick up a single call as this was not a political fight. They cannot say that we were under the influence of alcohol as it is there in the (medical) report of a government hospital... A police inspector told me that we cannot add the names of some police personnel in the FIR as they have been awarded as encounter specialists by the DIG and are about to be promoted. They said that police will do the needful but cannot name them in FIR ..." (21/03)

[WATCH] REGIONAL CONGRESS COMPLAINTS Ballot papers must be secured. In terms of our guidelines they can only be disposed after 6 months, because there might be litigation. In Johannesburg, this notion that a congress that was democratically held and successfully so is being attacked is hogwash. Those in the ANC who are leading the charge without an iota of evidence are being ill disciplined and as the ANC as prescribed by the Lekgotla and NGC must deal with them. There is no branch of the ANC that is ran on social media. ANC leadership has been attacked and the office of SG. I am the SG of the ANC and I deployed cdes to the congress. I’ve overseen many congresses as SG. Even when there were issues in Limpopo regions, I received the complaints and I dealt with them successfully. There was no attack on interference by the SG. The incident of the ballot papers is an isolated incident. There was a tip off and a follow up happened working with the police. ANC security enlisted with the police and the police are the ones who entered. We have a full report and it will be shared. What needs to be understood is that national officials don’t run regional congresses that is the role of the province. No one has prejudiced any leader nor said any congress will be rerun. The congress ran successfully and most of the complaints came after the congress especially with regards to the announcement of the additionals, we are dealing with that because if we don’t we will be subject to litigation. ANC ballot boxes can’t be in someone’s house or bedroom. That must be looked into.

Seth Rogen reveals The Interview used a real tiger because the CGI was too expensive, then the tiger wrangler started asking terrifying questions I did a movie called The Interview about North Korea, and there’s a scene with a tiger. I directed the movie with my partner, and we wrote this scene where there’s a tiger. I thought in my head it would be CG. Life of Pi had come out recently, and I was like, “We’ll get the Life of Pi tiger. Put us down for one Life of Pi.” They were like, “We can’t afford that at all. We’ve got to get a real tiger.” I was like, “Oh God.” So we found a tiger wrangler in Calgary, and we had a call with him. It was so funny because he was the least confidence inspiring person you’ve ever spoken to in your entire life. I asked, “Where’d you get the tiger?” He said, “From a stripper.” We were like, “What?” He said, “She had a tiger cub as part of her act, and it got too big, so she had to get rid of it.” We asked, “Where does a stripper get a tiger?” He said, “It’s easier than you think. You could get one.” We had sent him the script, and he said, “Let’s go over the scene. You’re not shooting this at night, are you?” I said, “Yeah, the scene is set at night.” He said, “Ooh.” I asked, “Why is that bad?” He said, “Well, they hunt at night.” He asked, “Can it be during the day?” We said, “No. Is that okay?” There was a long pause, and he said, “Yeah, it’s okay. I think it’s okay.” Then he asked, “It won’t be in a big open area, will it?” We said, “Yeah, it’s basically a giant meadow.” He said, “Ooh.” We asked, “Is that bad?” He said, “Well, if there’s a deer or something, they will go after it.” We said, “That’s bad. Should we not do this?” He said, “No, it’s fine.” Then he asked, “It won’t be raining, will it?” We said, “Yeah. We’re filming in Vancouver in the winter. It will be raining.” He said, “Oh, that’s not good.” We asked, “Why?” He said, “The rain really agitates them. They just don’t like the rain.” We asked, “Should we not do it?” He said, “No, it’s fine. It’ll be fine.”
