It’s visually exhausting. You should never have to play hide & seek with the point of focus in the shot. American film makers did this with action films in the 2010s until John Wick came around where they’d do 8374637 cuts for 1 punch to artificially create tension in the scene.

Oh I can keep up with the scene. But it’s very unprofessional storyboarding compared to other nutty scenes like OPM vs. Boros or Naruto/Sasuke vs. Momoshiki. Animations like this, unlike say Jin Woo and the Ant King, are very background focused and you can see that not many of their basic movements in the cut have much weight to them. The destruction of the environment around them is meant to take priority but it sacrifices key frames of a character’s movement mostly in air in order to make the scene fluid.

This is way more readable than what most modern anime do which is spam vfx and camera motion. Most Chinese animators basically follows Imaishi's animations style, with static camera, bold colors/text, blocks, heat effect and rubbery animation.

I love when is really good animated. However, the information on scenes is kinda oversaturated. They are using too much Straight Ahead than Pose to Pose. Sometimes a time of rest is better than constant movement.

Will Sakuga haters ever stop whining? The scenes are not hard to follow. They do this anytime it comes up and try to act like their preference is what makes something good or bad. “Style no substance” is also not the incredibly intelligent response they think it is.

the vid that OP is quote tweeting looks like a quickly done sakuga MAD or compilation, it makes sense for the scene from the *original* source material to be more visually comprehensible enough for the viewer to follow the action
