This is just ai slop reheating Spiderverse’s nachos. Ray Gunn looks miles better. Not to mention that it’s calling back to a style of animation that a lot of people would feel nostalgic for nowadays. I’d rather watch something that had a real person working behind it.

I get that it fails as a sequel but if you ignore the “sequel aspect” Cars 2 is genuinely a really fun and really good standalone Cars movie on its own, I much rather watch this over Incredibles 2 or Lightyear because Cars 2 is really over the top fun like a James Bond movie!

I seriously don’t understand why some people would say that this garbage is “better than Cars 2” I really don’t get it because Lightyear (2022) is truly Pixar at its WORST, Cars 2 (2011) is far from perfect and it may not be Pixar’s strongest but there was a lot more to enjoy about Cars 2 (2011) and yes you can say that Cars 2 (2011) had an over the top plot but at least it was dumb fun making it more enjoyable (also that’s how most spy thrillers are, they are quite dumb but fun) Lightyear (2022) is dumb but so incredibly boring that nothing really happens in this movie and there’s nothing worth remembering about it making such a snooze fest. Scenes like this gives me energy and excitement and this why Cars 2 (2011) is way better than Lightyear (2022), if you just go along with the over the top tone then you will enjoy it, getting bored at a movie like Lightyear (2022) is a worse feeling.

I have watched OVERBOARD countless times. Every generation in my family loved it. It is eminently rewatchable. The great Garry Marshall had a phenomenal run of romantic comedies, and this remains my favorite. There is some suspension of disbelief required, as even as a high schooler, I saw this scene and thought, "That ain't right." No matter how awful she is! But the film is so good-natured, the chemistry and comic timing is perfection, and an early script by yet another great, Leslie Dixon, is superb. How it gets us rooting for them and screaming, "Oh no!" when her husband shows up is an absolute magic trick. It is because I loved movies like this just so much that I never wanted to focus on one genre. Kurt Russell made USED CARS and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK back-to-back, so I wasn't surprised by his range at the time. But as I get older, I am more and more amazed by it. What a gift he and Goldie Hawn are in this film. I love this movie.
