. Jeremy Boreing asked me how we can help young men find meaning and purpose. Not philosophically…practically. First, I addressed what we are doing wrong. We are not meeting them where they are, on their terms, and until we do that, they won’t be receptive. Gen-Z is not proactively seeking advice, so we have to bring it to them. Second, we need to acknowledge that certain things in their life ARE hard. Too many in the “older” generations are not acknowledging this and simply telling them to “suck it up.” But…we then need to demonstrate to them that life has always been hard and we need to give them that perspective. How do we do this? Make “rites of passage” great again. Getting your driver’s license (I meet so many young people who simply Uber everywhere and thus never got a license). Making the varsity football team (so many young people gave up on sports during Covid). Asking a girl on a date: face-to-face. You become a “legal” adult on your 18th birthday. But you become an actual adult when you acquire enough life experiences that deem you mature enough to BE an adult and these come through rites of passage. Right now we have a generation of young males trying to “learn” manhood from the manosphere which is the definition of immaturity. A “rite of passage” is about triumphing through and beyond something. The manosphere’s business model is to keep young men stuck. It creates followers, not leaders. Perhaps the most important rite of passage we can provide these young men right now is to leave this nonsense and go on with building their lives on their own terms. Young men need the dirt under their fingernails that comes from REAL life experiences, not the calluses on their fingers that come from constant screen swipes.

This is for all the people in the arena ( your life, your career, your family ) who are doing it for them .. not for the validation of the crowd One of the great issues in our society right now is that people live their lives for outside validation, for the clicks, for the likes, for the followers, for the comments. This isn't just in social media. This is happening in the analog and real world too. Too many people are keeping up with the Joneses and worried about what people think about them. They worry about what people think about how much money they have, what school they go to, or even worse, what school their kids go to, and on and on and on … I will continue to make content with the hope it breaks someone out of the hamster wheel and that’s that ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was shocked to learn that in some studies, up to 27% of people on birth control report a decrease in their libido or sex drive. And yet, how many people are ACTUALLY talking about this? That’s why today I’m sitting down with Dr Rachel Rubin. Rachel is a board-certified urologist and sexual medicine specialist and one of ONLY 80 doctors in the US trained to treat both male and female sexual health. Before we started recording, Rachel said “I’m filled with rage”… She explained that people are being denied basic information about their bodies, hormones, sexual health and the treatments that could improve their quality of life… I said to Rachel in this conversation that it’s staggering that so many women are still being let down by the medical system. It makes you think - if men were in this exact situation, would this be the case? We discussed things like: - Why so many women are told their symptoms are normal when they are actually treatable. - Why Testosterone is not just a male hormone. - How hormones can affect UTIs, libido, pain during sex and overall quality of life. - If doctors are properly trained in women’s sexual health. - Why men need to understand the main topic of this episode too. What became clear to me is that this isn’t just a conversation about sex. It’s about health, relationships, confidence, ageing, pain, shame and the way people feel in their own bodies. AOC: We’ve seen such a fraying of these alleged Western values that people wonder whether they ever existed in the first place. So I don’t know if it’s necessarily that we are in a post–rules-based order. I think it’s possible that we were in a pre–rules-based order. And we have an opportunity to explore what the world would look like if we upheld democracy, human rights, and trade that actually centers working-class people instead of overwhelmingly accruing the benefits of trade to the wealthiest. If we reoriented toward a new era, it could actually help people — and show how foreign policy, and healthy foreign policy, can show up in their lives and make a difference.

So I don’t know if it’s necessarily that we are in a post–rules-based order. I think it’s possible that we were in a pre–rules-based order. And we have an opportunity to explore what the world would look like if we upheld democracy, human rights, and trade that actually centers working-class people instead of overwhelmingly accruing the benefits of trade to the wealthiest. If we reoriented toward a new era, it could actually help people — and show how foreign policy, and healthy foreign policy, can show up in their lives and make a difference.

That was a really cool experience! After about 5 hours of walking we noticed a very remote yurt, lost in the mountains, so we went to check it out. There we met two Kyrgyz boys (at first we assumed they were Khazak but we were wrong) - two brothers 14 and 12 years old - who lived there with their horses and cows. As they explain, they were a whole family living there during the summer: these 2 boys, their sister, and parents. The parents were out working when we went there. During the rest of the year, they live down in the city where they have an apartment and where the kids go to school. They kindly invited us in and we bought some of their homemade cheese and yogurt. We paid them through WeChat, which really goes to show how universal it is in China: even in the most remote places! We also spoke about life and... guess what... Mbappé, who truly is the only thing people worldwide seem to know about France these days 😅 Having traveled in some 64 countries so far, China is really one of the only countries out there where you can still find people - like them - living truly in accordance with their ancestral ways and their traditions. I've met hundreds of people like them over the years in China. Which is why the accusations against China on eradicating minority cultures are so shameful: they're literally best in class worldwide in letting people preserve their traditional ways of life.

In some ways, I think this is government and policy catching up with the conversation that is going on among young people themselves, because they are very alive to how technological change can influence career options. “So perhaps the assumptions about what was a safe and secure job in the past no longer apply today. “I think that gives new life to the traditional trades. It gives new life to some of the technical skills that we want to prize through the announcement that we’re making today. “And the labour market is changing. This is a general-purpose technology, it will both destroy jobs and create jobs. “And if you’re a young person starting out in life at the moment, thinking about what you’ll do in the future, I think the calculations that you make about your employment security are probably different today than they would have been 10 or 20 years ago.”
