It’s the balance of being coached, and taught, and sometimes, you know, got MF’d in the dugout, and that’s okay, but also being so free, and being able to just play your game. Meanwhile, as we idle, the crew has taken the chance to organize the humanitarian aid onboard—itemizing the collection of medicine and food. Thoughts for people living in safe blue cities and states: Alabama is the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. People bled and died for our right to vote. Years ago, my son said to me, “Democrats have to give people a reason to vote.” I told him something I still believe right now: We must NEVER sit out an election because Republicans are counting on us to. We make the best choice for our survival. And it’s not lost on me that in my entire life, I’ve never had to wonder if my vote would count, if polling places would be shut down, or if there would be roadblocks waiting on the way there. A lot of Americans still do. #AllRoadsLeadToTheSouth

There are all these kids here.’ Well, the sad thing is, because there’s so much abortion here, there aren’t the kids to adopt here that there were many decades past. Far fewer. So that’s number one. And number two, there is a need internationally for children who are abandoned, who have no one. In a lot of countries—and Russia doesn’t allow adoption anymore. Obviously with the war we wouldn’t be doing that—but one of my sons is one of the last kids out of Russia. Children are children. Bringing them into the country legally versus putting them in a migrant caravan to be raped and trafficked and abused is something completely different. So I don’t think there’s any disconnect there. But if you can help a child in need who has no one, I think that’s what it’s all about. I certainly help my fair share of charitable endeavors.”

"We should stop training radiologists now. It’s just completely obvious that within five years, deep learning is going to do better than radiologists." It's been 9 years since Nobel laureate and AI guru Geoffrey Hinton made this statement. Over those 9 years, my workload has only increased. Yesterday I had a pleasure of speaking with a group of Canadian radiology residents. Their future remains bright, and demand for their skills has never been greater. We have to be humble and understand the difference between what we perceive to be other people's field of expertise and actually working within that field. We must also not confuse a tool for the craftsman. They are not the same. AI is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less.

🐰 I have a friend, and he’s just a regular office worker. When I look at that, I think it’s really impressive. That friend always says to me, “Ah… Seonghwa, it must be really hard for you.” And I tell him, “The work you do yourself always feels the hardest. Rather than comparing or analyzing, it’s just that what you do feels the hardest. So let’s just be thankful for the days we can meet like this.” As I get older, I have friends from Jinju that I’ve been with for 12 years. No - 11 years. We all went to different schools, but somehow we’ve stayed close until now. Our group chat is called “Animal Crossing”, and up until about three years ago, we met often. Until just three years ago… what was it…? We would at least meet once during the holidays, but in these past three years, there’s always been one or two people who couldn’t make it, or sometimes I couldn’t make it. It’s gotten harder and harder to gather. So now we say, “Well, at least it’s lucky if we can see each other at someone’s wedding.” Because I travel abroad often, I might not be able to go, and since there are friends in Jinju too, when they get married, they’ll live there, right? When I think about that, I realize, “Ah, I might not be able to go.” So it’s a bit sad, but it also means that each of us is settling into our own place in life. Someday… That’s why I like a certain line from a drama: “When we meet again, let’s finish the conversations we couldn’t finish.” I really liked that line. And now each of our lives is different. For me, I now have my members, and for my friends, they’ve probably found someone even closer to them.
