@BreakfastNews It is a strange world we live in where people think it's perfectly normal to drive to the gym to take some exercise. Sadly the natural result of making our streets actively hostile to those on foot or on bikes.

@BreakfastNews Years ago, the bike parents of L’ecole bilingue elem. school worked with the city to take parking OUT of the street in front of the school, to increase safety for student cyclists. I talked to car parents that if they parked further away, and walked 5-6 min. to and from car …/2

@BreakfastNews just the other day I was sitting with two ladies discussing how they would find time to go swimming together. I didn't jump into the conversation because I didn't want to say that by riding a bike for transport i'd design this problem out of my life.

@BreakfastNews Clarification: we #engineered cities from #bureaucratic #policies not focused on human #livability. When we #design Cities for livability, we will engineer great components that support the design and the occupants.

@BBugVic @BreakfastNews Did you define “designing healthy cities”? Canadian cities have mandatory drivers insurance; Australian ones don’t. You have the GTA; Melbourne has 31 LGAs. You have 🛑; we have give ways. Your cars stop before the sidewalk. There’s more to healthy cities than bike lanes.
