Today, I signed a decree introducing a sanctions package against Russian and other individuals and entities supporting Russia’s military system. These include developers, manufacturers, and suppliers of drones for the occupiers, individuals assisting in importing critical components into Russia, as well as those training drone operators. In total, more than a hundred entities and individuals. We are actively working with our partners to synchronize these sanctions with their respective measures. It is crucial that all our partners continue to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia. Without foreign components and without schemes to bypass sanctions, Russia cannot sustain its terror campaign. Every “Shahed” drone and every Russian missile contains dozens of foreign components. That is why it is essential for our sanctions pressure to work hand in hand with the global effort.

Today, during our meeting with Mark Carney, we discussed strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia. And it is important that such decisions are being made. We also discussed formats of defense cooperation, Canada’s participation in financing the production of Ukrainian drones under the Danish model, and cooperation in the energy sector. Importantly, Canada will continue to provide Ukraine with energy support and assistance in recovery. I thank Mark for his strong position during the G7–Ukraine meeting and for all the support for our people. We truly have strong allies and the Prime Minister’s significant personal engagement in supporting Ukraine. And this is highly valuable.

This is a difficult task, but our warriors are completing it step by step. Everyone sees it. Today I held a detailed meeting on sanctions and increasing pressure on Russia, specifically targeting the shadow tanker fleet. We have a series of measures in place and will be intensifying our work with partners. I also signed several decrees, including one that imposes sanctions on Russian companies and individuals who work in the interests of the aggressor state and help it evade accountability for the war. I thank everyone who is preserving and creating jobs in the region, everyone who is working for Ukraine and for the benefit of Ukraine. We will continue all government programs that have proven effective and that support our production and our economy. There is still more we can do to support our industry — I’ve instructed government officials to fulfill what the entrepreneurs have asked for today. Ukraine’s results are shared results — the achievements of all those who have chosen Ukraine, who are actively working for Ukraine, and who are ready to do whatever is necessary for our country to endure and achieve its goals. I thank our partners and Mark Rutte that the PURL initiative exists and is functioning – contributions were made this May. There will be contributions in June as well. Today, we discussed how we can accelerate and expand deliveries under this key program. I also thank all our partners who are already working with us on joint production and helping with funding so that weapons production in Ukraine can continue to grow. We discussed with the NATO Secretary General several other things that could provide Ukraine with stronger long-term financial security guarantees.
