Liam Gallagher’s absence turned this into a very unusual Oasis television appearance. When “Cum on Feel the Noize” was performed on Later... with Jools Holland in November 1995, Noel Gallagher took the lead vocal, with Paul Weller among the musicians joining him. The song dated back to 1973, when Slade took the Noddy Holder and Jim Lea composition to No. 1 in the UK. Oasis recorded their own version during the (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? era and released it as the B-side to “Don’t Look Back in Anger” in February 1996. This performance therefore offered a rare Noel-fronted version before the Oasis recording was officially released.
