Right now, we have all heard from Russia Putin’s highly predictable and manipulative words in response to the idea of a ceasefire on the front lines—at this moment he is, in fact, preparing to reject it. Of course, Putin is afraid to tell President Trump directly that he wants to continue this war and keep killing Ukrainians. That’s why, in Moscow, they are surrounding the ceasefire idea with such preconditions that it either fails or gets dragged out for as long as possible. Putin does this often—he doesn’t say ‘no’ outright, but he drags things out and makes reasonable solutions impossible. We see this as yet another round of Russian manipulation. There was a U.S. proposal for an unconditional ceasefire—in the air, at sea, and on the front lines. We in Ukraine accepted this proposal. We have heard from the American side that there is readiness to organize monitoring and verification. And this is absolutely feasible—with American and European capabilities. And during the ceasefire, to prepare answers to all questions about long-term security and a real, lasting peace, and to put a plan to end the war on the table. Ukraine is ready to work as quickly and constructively as possible. We have discussed this with U.S. representatives, and our European partners, as well as all our allies worldwide, are aware of it. We are not setting conditions that complicate the process—Russia is. As we have always said, the only one stalling, the only one being unconstructive, is Russia. They need this war. Putin has stolen years of peace and continues this war day after day. Now is the time to increase pressure on him. Sanctions must be applied—ones that will work. We will continue working with our American and European partners and with everyone in the world who wants peace—to force Russia to end this war.

Politico named Putin among the biggest losers of the year, and it's true: Ukraine held back Russian attacks; the goals of the "special military operation" were not reached; seized a piece of the Russian Kursk region and continues holding it; Russian economy is in crisis; Putin lost his foothold in Syria and had to apologize for Russia shooting down a civilian aircraft. The myth of the "second army in the world" is gone for good: Russia had to ask North Korea for shells and soldiers. Russian labor shortage is deepening, so Russia is looking for workers in Africa and Asia. A rat in a corner is the most dangerous. It is very important for Putin to look and feel like a winner. So he continues terrorizing Ukraine with more and more strikes and threaten not just Kyiv but the whole West with Oreshnik attacks. Putin doesn't care about human losses and how his people live. Putin wants to go down in history as the great "gatherer of Russian lands" at whatever cost. He wants one thing - to stay in power. Putin is not waging the war with just Ukraine - he is fighting the West and NATO. He sees that the West is afraid of decisive actions, there is no unity and no real readiness to face the challenges. Russia is allowed to earn money for the war using its shadow fleet. Sanctions are working but they allow for loopholes and they are not strong enough. Ukraine is given enough support not to lose but definitely not enough to win. Provocations and sabotage of NATO countries are conveniently overlooked. What conclusions will Russia draw from this? That the West is weak and Russia has the upper hand. Putin sees no point in negotiations and ending the war because he is certain he can get anything he wants. And this is a recipe for an upcoming global disaster. Can it still be stopped? I hope so. Ukraine has bought the West time - with our lives and blood. We are not martyrs. We do not want to sacrifice ourselves. We want peace and justice and security. Time for a wakeup call. Time to truly make Putin the biggest loser. 📹: times during 2024 when Putin and Russia were shown who they really are
