Bernie, I am a professor at a top engineering program in the country. DM me and I will round up half a dozen people to come talk to you about the realities of this technology. Half a day. We can go to a spa or enjoy a nice brunch on the weekend. You are very misinformed about the capability of the technology. Worse, your misinformation is actually HELPING them to raise funds and further their agenda. You have become a pawn in their game. There are very real AI threats that involve political and commercial power. But none of them involve any real capability. It's a parlor trick. A scam. And you are falling for it. Again, I hope you will DM me. I'll be happy to spend a half day with you to help recalibrate your priors on this one. At the very least, you should want to make sure that you aren't helping the very people you are trying to stand up to.

Trying to stop the most profound technological revolution in world history is the most backward concept conceivable. Do you want to cure cancer? Solve aging? Advance science? 10x the economy? We need to maximize the number of datacenters and figure out UBI.

Bernie’s arguments are just recycled Luddite superstition dressed up as economic concern. Every generation hears the same claim: new technology will destroy society. What it actually does is create more wealth by making people’s lives better. And if billionaires were even half as powerful as he claims, Bernie Sanders would have been out of a job decades ago instead of spending a lifetime as a professional political parasite railing against the system that lets him keep getting elected.

Just stop. I am pro-Liberal (capital L) values.... but this is the sort of current left wing slop that leaves me longing for a party of logic and truth without the unnecessary class-rage-bait.

if you want to do this, at least get an international agreement to pause that includes china. if not you're handing the future to china against the interest of democracy loving citizens of the world.

Bernie, name one major technology where speculative future harms were successfully avoided by preemptively freezing progress. Electricity. Aviation. Nuclear. The internet. Biotech. None became safer because politicians paused them “until we understand the risks.” Risk can only be managed by iterative progress, which reveals what’s real and what isn’t. Societies that pause innovation don’t make it safer. They just outsource the future to the ones who don’t pause.

Nobody cares what you say. You believe socialism can work. That makes anything else you say not worth considering.

A US ban on AI datacenters is a first step, but it won't suffice. We need international buy-in to prevent the creation of a superintelligence. Work towards a treaty, track AI hardware, inspect datacenters. Use IAEA as inspiration - we already track uranium enrichment hardware.

Appreciate you raising these crucial issues about AI. In any rational civilization, serious discussions about AI would be absolutely front and center in any political discourse. Any politician who doesn't educate themselves about the pros and cons of AI is failing their constituents. The best reason is that it is well known that additional compute from Ai Data Centers will not achieve AGI and, in fact, is already outdated compared to the new advancements in Ai that do not require the destructive data centers. SHUT THEM DOWN!
