After the signing of the agreement between DRC and Rwanda, people have remained sceptical as many agreements have been signed in the past but failed to produce lasting peace. Even now, although the agreement has been signed, each party seems to have its own understanding of the agreement, and they are still disagreement about how to proceed. It is my view that both parties signed the agreement under pressure from Washington without truly coming to an agreement about how to proceed.

My European friends have asked whether the US is still committed to the US/EU trade deal. We are. In fact, we signed this agreement in August, and every day since, the United States has been in compliance with what it agreed to do under the agreement. International community including the mediators (USA) continue to question why the #FDLR has not been effectively neutralized despite repeated commitments. As long as this issue remains unresolved, confidence in the Washington Peace Agreement will remain fragile. The region deserves concrete results, not endless delays.
