NEWS: For the first time, Tesla has launched a whole page on its website dedicated just to FSD, and they revealed a couple new pieces of info on it! • 3.8 billion miles have bene driven on FSD (Supervised) • FSD (Supervised) is 54% safer than a human driver when it's engaged • FSD (Supervised) is trained on what amounts to over 100 years of anonymous real-world driving scenarios from Tesla's fleet of over six million vehicles. Tesla's fleet collectively experiences a lifetime of driving scenarios in 10 minutes. Link to the FSD page in the thread below.

I love you FSD v14.2 - but speed control has to come back soon… or they need to somehow solve misreading speed limits/bad map data. At the end of this clip we are JUST going the speed limit while in mad max. I’ve also had the car think it’s 30 km/h in a 60 km/h zone - in those situations even mad max won’t drive the speed limit and I am forced to use the pedal. This is actually more of a problem now since 14.2 since all of the profiles drive slower than they did in 14.1. I am 100% okay with the slower profiles, but only if the car actually knows the real speed limit.

The good news is that Tesla has finally done something about how its self-driving software behaves around stopped school buses. Every version of FSD that we tested previously had a 100% failure rate. However, v14 is now reacting correctly more often than not. The bad news is that it is still nowhere near reliable enough for a safety critical system, with a 20% failure rate in our tests of 14.1.4:

I'm now fully convinced Tesla's FSD system is the future of driving. It drove me through it all. Tight curbside streets, janky parking garages, rain-slicked freeways, and even the crooked mess of Lombard Street -- both in dry and wet weather -- all without a hiccup. It handled it better than some people I saw reversing down driveways. I never felt the need to take over. Parking was the cherry on top. It would pull into or reverse into spaces, even in tight garages. Occasionally, I'd pick the exact space I wanted, but most of the time, I just let it do its thing. And it did it well. I've used Autopilot plenty, in the UK where FSD isn't a thing. But FSD is miles ahead. I'd be lying if I said it didn't feel slightly magical. I've never driven in San Francisco before. I didn't know the streets. But the car did. And I trusted it. That's the key takeaway here: I trusted the system. At no point did I clench, panic, or even hesitate. 🚨 Many of you asked us to test highway driving with Tesla Full Self-Driving v14.2.1.25. Here’s what we noticed: ✅ Speed Profiles are significantly improved. Hurry Mode is no longer capped at 10 MPH over the speed limit, and now travels with the flow of traffic. This is much more comfortable and requires no assistance on the driver’s end. Previously, I was helping it switch lanes with v14.2.1. ✅ Lane changes are performed much more confidently and FSD seems to make proper maneuvers at proper times. This was a regression in v14.2.1. This version is significantly better. ✅ Merging, switching lanes, and passing are all performed with zero interventions. Perhaps the most natural feeling of highway driving in an FSD update in some time. Well done Tesla AI

I think as always it’s fair to talk about the good and the bad with each new version of FSD that comes out. It feels like FSD V14.2.2.4 is still struggling with speed control. I spent the majority of my drive tonight in standard and I found that on most straight stretches of road the car was going under the speed limit by a considerable amount (15kmh at times) Here’s a raw clip of the car driving between 60-67 kmh in a 70kmh zone with zero cars around it to slow it down. The road is well lit with traffic lights, so I don’t really see any reason at all to be driving this way. Let me know what you all think.
