Every permit, design plan, environmental review, and public filing will be available for scrutiny. The project should be judged on data, not misinformation. What started as a local controversy is now a national story. Following Senator Cotton’s call for a DOJ investigation, questions are being raised about who is funding opposition campaigns against data centers, power infrastructure, and development projects across the country. As litigation moves forward, discovery and forensic audits could provide greater transparency into where that funding is coming from and what role outside groups may be playing.

I take partial blame along with the rest of the industry. We did not communicate the difference between a data center built in Virginia 20 years ago and what we're building now. Most data centers today don't use more water than a golf course, and so that's a huge package of misinformation. Additionally, everybody has to bring their own power. The major benefit to that is we need more power in America. Not just data centers, we need overall power. In Utah for example, I have to bring my own power and build power not only for the data center, but to give back to the community to keep power costs down. That's a major benefit. That's gonna happen across the country.

David Friedberg: Michael Burry’s Datacenter Math is Wrong “I actually think Michael Burberry's got this wrong.” “What Michael Burry is saying is that all of these hyperscalers have extended their depreciation schedule or the useful life of their data centers by roughly 2x, which cuts the operating costs in half when they report it in earnings. And so it's making their earnings inflate.” “So he's claiming they're cooking the books. Google first made this change in Q1 of 2021, where they said the servers are now going from 3 to 4 years. Separately in 2021, Google took networking equipment from 3 to 5 years. And then in 2023, they took it from 5 to 6 years.” “And so this is a result of this effort where they went in and did an analysis. Everybody living in these communities deserves answers, and every concern should go through the proper legal and environmental process. That means permits for air, water, noise, temperature, and full disclosure before anything gets built. But after our Utah project was approved, a wave of misinformation started spreading claims that we’re draining the Great Salt Lake, stealing Utah’s power, or building something the size of Manhattan. None of it is true. We’re building our own power generation, following the law, and creating thousands of jobs and major tax revenue for Utah communities. So I started asking where all this coordinated opposition was coming from. That led us to organizations like Alliance for a Better Utah and funding networks connected through groups like Arabella. After reviewing IRS filings and conducting audits, I became convinced that foreign linked money, including interests connected to China, is helping fuel efforts to slow power generation and data center development in the United States.

Chris Camillo explains how Bloom Energy is solving AI data center energy usage problems… “ $BE is one of the only companies in the world that has a method to essentially bring almost an infinite amount of energy to these data centers." And we won't get into all the technology, but they are now working with hyperscalers and they are a resource for energy that will allow a data center to get ramped up quicker. In this war the number one precision missile attacks were around data centers. So if you look at what was attempted by Iran, it was to knock out the data centers in various countries in addition to energy. So what do you need to fight tomorrow's war? Let's, let's say the Chinese wanna take over Singapore. That's pure AI. You're gonna use drones. We know that already. They're very effective, low cost. You're gonna take out data centers, chip manufacturing. When you start to think about investing, and that's what I'm thinking about, I hate warfare obviously, but what does this tell me? The country with the most capacity for data centers and AI, is going to win the wars in the future.

That's China's plan to win the AI race and control the next century. But that DOES NOT mean data centers should just drain public power. I'm dead set against any data center that has a SINGLE line feeding them power from the grid. But some are generating their own power and giving the excess TO the grid. Those are two very different scenarios. Thankfully, Kevin O'Leary has said his data center project in Utah will generate its own power. THIS IS A MUST. Just like railroads, factories, oil, and electricity powered previous generations, the future will run on AI computing, powered by massive amounts of energy. We need both to stop China from dominating the world. China knows this and is trying to turn data centers into a boogeyman. There’s evidence out now from the Bitcoin Policy Institute that foreign influence networks are actively feeding this anti-data center movement in the United States. They traced several overlapping campaigns, all aimed at slowing American AI infrastructure down, directly to China. Strong countries build infrastructure. Weak countries fear it. We can't fall for their trap. But we must also build strategically without sacrificing public resources.

Yesterday I drove to Columbus to testify before Ohio’s Joint Data Center Committee thinking it was a serious effort to protect Ohio communities. Today I found out several of the members have conflicts of interest. Ohioans are being told this committee exists to provide oversight and protect citizens from the impacts of massive data center development. But look at who is sitting on the committee. One co-chair owns and manages oil and gas companies, well services, and businesses connected to energy infrastructure. Another co-chair runs an industrial contracting company that could potentially benefit from large-scale infrastructure projects. Another member leads a commercial and industrial construction company. Several committee members have received campaign contributions from utility, energy, construction, and power-sector PACs. Meanwhile, these same politicians support policies promoting massive energy expansion for data centers. So here’s my question: How can Ohioans have confidence this committee is independent when so many members have professional, political, or financial ties to industries that stand to benefit from data center growth? I didn’t come to Columbus to participate in political theater. I came because Ohio families have legitimate questions about energy demand, water consumption, environmental impacts, property rights, privacy concerns, and the long-term consequences of building an AI and data center economy across our state. Instead of an independent watchdog, are we looking at a committee designed to reassure the public while the decisions have already been made? Ohioans deserve answers. Ohioans deserve transparency. And Ohioans deserve a committee that represents the public, not the industries that profit from the outcome. Was this committee created to protect Ohio citizens? Ohioans are being told this committee exists to provide oversight and protect citizens from the impacts of massive data center development. But look at who is sitting on the committee. One co-chair owns and manages oil and gas companies, well services, and businesses connected to energy infrastructure. Another co-chair runs an industrial contracting company that could potentially benefit from large-scale infrastructure projects. Another member leads a commercial and industrial construction company. Several committee members have received campaign contributions from utility, energy, construction, and power-sector PACs. Meanwhile, these same politicians support policies promoting massive energy expansion for data centers. So here’s my question: How can Ohioans have confidence this committee is independent when so many members have professional, political, or financial ties to industries that stand to benefit from data center growth? I didn’t come to Columbus to participate in political theater. I came because Ohio families have legitimate questions about energy demand, water consumption, environmental impacts, property rights, privacy concerns, and the long-term consequences of building an AI and data center economy across our state. Instead of an independent watchdog, are we looking at a committee designed to reassure the public while the decisions have already been made? Ohioans deserve answers. Ohioans deserve transparency. And Ohioans deserve a committee that represents the public, not the industries that profit from the outcome. Was this committee created to protect Ohio citizens?
