Weekly drone flight update on the Giga Texas Tesla Optimus factory construction. There is a noticeable jump in steel assembly this week … mid/south bays filling over the footing field, the steel structure assembly is pushing towards the north grade beam. This is the brand-new dedicated ~7M sq ft... show more

@Tesla_Optimus Optimus will change the way we live work and expand

@Tesla_Optimus Insane how fast they’re stamping those factories out of the ground.

@Tesla_Optimus Good morning Mr Joe

@Tesla_Optimus Impossible to believe that Tesla would be building this out if there wasn't a clear path to robot dominance.

It’s my sincere hope that they don’t allocate anything but a very small portion of their first couple years of production to personal use. Being the hardest engineering problem they will have solved, my hope is the vast majority be kept for construction and operations throughout the Tesla/SpaceX/Boring Co universe. Between Austin/Grimes/Houston/Louisiana/Sparks and even Buffalo, not to mention soon to be hundreds of CyberCab support facilities, rapidly accelerating growth of all sectors directly effects the GDP growth of this country. Let Optimus build the Amazing Abundance future instead of dog walking and laundry folding…

@Tesla_Optimus What are they cooking Joe?

@Tesla_Optimus Texas pouring steel for Optimus is industry. That factory is national power, not a fandom. Build it here.

@Tesla_Optimus Thanks for posting this Joe. Love your progress! BTD

@Tesla_Optimus Show this to all who claim Tesla is just a car company. A 10M/yr humanoid robot plant rising this fast says everything. Thanks Joe!

@Tesla_Optimus There’s a lot here worth analyzing.

@Tesla_Optimus Man..... Incredibly fast construction

@Tesla_Optimus the steel assembly sequence looks well ahead of the mid bay footings, that north push is aggressive

@Tesla_Optimus Optimus !!! Thanks Joe ! @grok Will the weather condition this year, El Niño, cause limited rain in Texas, which will allow more constant production of the Optimus factory?

@Tesla_Optimus Awesome progress

@Tesla_Optimus Manufacturing is returning to America! 🇺🇸

@Tesla_Optimus According to sources from Optimus component suppliers in China, the current first-pass yield for the hands is only around 60%. That's why Elon said the early production ramp-up will be very slow.

@Tesla_Optimus The speed is unbelievable!

@Tesla_Optimus Awesome progress 🙆🏻

@Tesla_Optimus man that steel jump from last week to this week is unreal, the mid bay is practically filled now

@Tesla_Optimus @grok 本周供应链报告显示首批约5000个单位的零部订单(未经证实)。这个信息源头是哪

@Tesla_Optimus

@Tesla_Optimus Coming together fast!

@Tesla_Optimus Is Optimus University meant to be the same building? 🤔

this middle four-storey portion looks like the "Optimus Academy" which elon mentioned on Cheeky Pints podcast. And, "you use the tens of thousands of robots in the real world to close the sim-to-real gap" is the recipe tesla uses for FSD in cars and trucks .... ► Elon Feb 5, 2026: (timestamp 1h23m28s) For the robot, what we're going to need to do is build a lot of robots and put them in kind of like an Optimus Academy so they can do self-play in reality. So we're actually pulling that out. So we can have at least 10,000 Optimus robots, maybe 20 or 30,000 that are doing self-play and testing different tasks. And then Tesla has quite a good reality generator, like a physics-accurate reality generator that we made for the cars. We'll do the same thing for the robots, we actually have done that for the robots. So you have a few tens of thousands of humanoid robots doing different tasks, and then you can do millions of simulated robots in the simulated world. And you use the tens of thousands of robots in the real world to close the simulation to reality gap. Close the sim-to-real gap. ...I think Optimus-3 is the right version of the robot to, you know, to produce maybe something on the order of like a million units a year. I think you'd want to go to Optimus-4 before you go to 10 million units here..."

Roof and interior fit-out come before first production, but they don't typically set that late 2027 date on a plant this size. After dry-in, process-equipment install commonly runs 2–6 months, or 6–12 on a complex line, plus 2–4 months of commissioning, and those usually take more of that late 2027 calendar than the building envelope. Texas lets them keep standing steel through winter, but conduit can go up on those framed bays while they're still open — what waits for a weathertight shell is pulling wire. That's a 2026 close-in.

@Tesla_Optimus Joe, did you ever find out why they have a portion of the parking structure still hidden from outside view? Any guesses?

@Tesla_Optimus Thanks for tracking this, Joe. Beyond the steelwork, which utility or equipment-installation milestones can you track from the drone flights? Those would help put the next stage of construction in context.
