Cortex 2 at Giga Texas continues to make progress simultaneously with partial operation. Permits show Data Hall 5 is now in the process of being completed inside while crews are working hard to prepare for a doubling of the installed Megapacks (from ~130 currently to ~250 when completed). The... part 2 of the chiller system assembly continues, with most of the superstructure in lace and the 6 fan openings on the roof taking shape. Utilities, plumbing, storm water management systems & more are nearly completed in and around the facility. This facility will be important to train the Optimus Robots & in the distance just north of the facility, the new 10M/yr Optimus factory is starting to take shape.show more

Another flyover of a major construction project at Giga Texas, this one Cortex 2.0 where AI training for the Optimus Robot (and possibly some FSD training) is taking lace. The plant is still partially operational with about half of the Megapacks & cooling systems installed while the second half is well under way to be completed later this summer/early fall. Once completed, I expect there to be about 260 Megapacks dedicated just for Cortex 2 operation, while there is already another 72 Megapacks in operation for Cortex 1, located on the south end of the main factory,. 4 Months of Optimus Factory Progress Timelapse! It is time to do another month of weekly progress on the Optimus Factory at Giga Texas. This begins on 23 March 2026 & goes to 27 July 2026 for approximately 4 months of progress. The superstructure is growing quickly now, the north perimeter grade beam is taking shape, footings on the south side of the structure & more land reclamation work on the far south end. Sometimes seeing timelapse of the progress reveals just how quickly things are progressing & not really noticed during daily updates.

Weekly drone flight update on the Giga Texas Tesla Optimus factory construction. There is a noticeable jump in steel assembly this week … mid/south bays filling over the footing field, the steel structure assembly is pushing towards the north grade beam. This is the brand-new dedicated ~7M sq ft plant for the 10M/yr line. First (limited) production is expected sometime in late 2027. Meanwhile, some other Optimus Robot news: at the Fremont factory in California, the smaller 1M/yr pilot production plant is reportedly coming on-line quickly. Supply-chain reports this week of a first ~5k-unit parts order (unconfirmed). Optimus may be the hardest product Tesla has ever tried to scale and both the pilot line at Fremont and this new factory (10X larger) are making fast progress to allow the scale manufacturing needed for millions of humanoid robots coming in the next few years, beginning with the V3 robots from Fremont starting in 2027 and then V4 robots from this facility late in 2027 and into 2028. The Tesla Optimus factory at Giga Texas continues to make fast progress with assembly & more than double the number of cranes are now working on the site! We also see steel truss beams arriving, hinting some open areas without 4 floors of the structure may soon emerge in its construction. On the an end, assembly is rapidly approaching the perimeter beam, while on the S end more GeoPiers, footings & perimeter grade beam construction continues. Roof access structures are beginning to be assemble too, while rebar is being laid down on the floor decking ahead of concrete pours.

The Optimus Factory at Giga Texas continues to see quick installation and assembly of steel on the growing superstructure, now 8 column grids “long” and nearly as wide as the final perimeter grade beam. GeoPier work on the south end continues as the prerequisite for footing construction. Footings are nearly complete not eh entire north end and on the south end, the foundation is reaching into the newly reclaimed land, which will further lengthen the building, inching closer to the Central Campus Support group of facilities which includes the Battery Cathode, Die Shop and Cortex 2 facilities.

Giga Texas News! A brand-new, stand-alone factory is starting construction! This follows the Shareholders meeting & info that a 10-million-per-year Tesla Optimus production facility "on the Giga Texas campus" will be built & enter into production in 2027! Here are some details! Land clearing on the E side, River Road expansion & several construction projects are already underway! In addition, the Giga Texas Riverfront Ecological Park project is proceeding along the same time frame & when completed, will allow public access to new sports parks, trails, water access & nature areas. We will see all of this throughout 2026 as Tesla prepares for the start of production in 2027!

The approach is similar to what we saw with the main factory building when it began construction. Grade preparation & old sand & gravel mine reclamation work, while GeoPiers put in piers to support footings & then steel erection beginning int eh center part of the structure, then proceeding to the N & then S as the structure assembly progresses. Tesla construction uses an agile & Minimum Essential Capability (MEC) approach which means we are likely to see portions of the factory be completed more quickly than other portions to allow the start of equipment installation & initial testing before the rest of the structure is completed. I also think we are seeing this in two main parts … the first where the structure is rising now & the second, further south where ground reclamation work is still needed before grade preparation can begin. Again, this is very reminiscent of how the main factory was constructed in 2020 through 2022.

The league's largest and leading performance center continues to progress as we prepare for the Cavaliers to move in this February 2027, with public access to the facility expected in next August.

Concrete is going in on the three upper floors, rebar is still being laid for more pours, and footing / grade-beam work continues on the south end. The east side still looks more open w/ long roof trusses likely going to span ~3 grids. Possible atrium or taller bays. Stairwell with roof access showing on the west side. Many interesting changes today including a complete revision of the E secondary glass entrance to the main factory along with a large section of wall panels removed. The Optimus factory continues to grow & may have some floors poured with concrete. The E Advanced Chip fab foundation has many footings, some poured with concrete & the perimeter grade beam is starting to take shape. Superchargers are being installed at the Test Track Operations Center to support a growing number of Cybercabs undergoing track & other testing. Lots more to see today!

AS I get ready to head off to Europe for a few weeks to attend the Tesla Club Austria Takeover Europe event, Here is an extended snapshots video clip showing a site absolutely brimming with activity. Today is also a rare production day to make up for the holiday on Monday. Cybercabs all over the place today, exiting the factory, driving in the outbound lot for transport pickup, many with their hatches open prepping for final inspections and more! The refreshed Tesla Semi with extended cab removed at the Crash Testing facility today too! Construction in 4 major sites is really moving along today too, including more steel erection at the N Optimus factory site, and the extension ground reclamation work continues to progress. The E Advanced Tech Chip fab shows more earth preparation and Cortex 2 part 2 of the cooling system getting 4 of these 6 fan units installed while more Megapacks have arrived and are being installed. The SW Test Track is also getting work done on it, with some new excavation work and pipe installation along with new concrete curbs. So mush more to see today and I hope you enjoy this slightly loner snapshots look at the factory today. See you in a few weeks!

The North Campus at Giga Texas (aka Optimus 10M/yr factory) work on the main foundation continues, with gravel & crushed concrete being laid down in a massive excavation on the south end, while GeoPier, footing construction & rebar cage assembly work makes progress on the middle to the north end of the site. The foundation work shows at least two types of footing construction underway, one of which appears as isolated footings (or pad footings) with a column starter cage which is a standard reinforced concrete foundation element used under individual columns in buildings. I’m not sure why there are serial kinds of footings being used here, but it is similar to what was used for the south extension to the main factory, along with a few other areas in the main building.

I’m back after a few weeks away in Europe & visiting Giga Berlin (a fantastic factory too!) so today I decided to try and get a good overall look at the activity & changes here since I was away, and there is really a lot to cover … almost too much! Cybercab production continues with many of these vehicles lined up at the factory exit point & more int the outbound lot. I saw a Model Y production going strong too, with several in the new shades of blue recently announced too! The 4680 battery cell portion of the factory was getting concrete delivered inside where I’ve observed demolition & expansion work underway to increase production capacity & this is backed up with several new permits filed over the past few days! The Test track has had more work on it including paint marks, dedicated lanes w/ dividers & a Cybercab testing office & vehicles that have been recently observed driving on the track for some kind of testing. The E side where the new joint venture with SpaceX Advanced Chip fab is being constructed was getting GeoPier work, while more preparations were underway to relocate active workshops & recycling yards further to the N to clear space for additional construction. Cortex 2 part 2 chiller system fan tower seems nearly completed structurally, while more pipes, vale’s & wrapped items remain to be installed. The Giga Texas Optimus Factory has made a lot of progress with ground work, GeoPiers & now the steel superstructure which has grown to 4 Floors, at least in the sender section! This is similar to the main factory construction and I suspect we will see varying levels throughout the structure as it continues to build out. This means that with the extension work to the south to reclaim even more land to further lengthen the structure, it will have a meaningful % of the 11 Million Sq Ft of the main factory, so this is truly becoming a massive factory! A large steel staging yard in nearby in the “lone tree” field & several large cranes are at work actively adding more steel as they build out from the center, again, very similar to how the main factory was constructed. Check it out!
