We’re debating the Iran War Powers Resolution I co-authored with Rep. Ro Khanna. Under our Constitution, the power to initiate war rests solely with Congress. Congress owes our service members a clearly defined mission, so that when they accomplish it, they can come home.

The House and the Senate will hold separate votes on a War Powers Resolution on Thursday, sponsored by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie and Senators Tim Kaine and Rand Paul respectively. The War Powers Resolution seeks to halt President Donald Trump's war of aggression on Iran through the constitutional authority vested in Congress to authorize a war. Congress expects to be briefed on Tuesday about the intelligence behind the U.S. strikes on Iran, and when asked if he is open to the possibility there is new intelligence justifying the military action, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) says, "I'm always open to new intelligence." Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) adds, “I’m open as well.” Khanna, who has co-sponsored a bipartisan War Powers Resolution with Massie, tells Margaret Brennan that "the procedure should have been that Congress was briefed before we decided to enter war, and that we actually had a vote on it."
