Over 48 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (#MDFR) units are on-scene of a Fifth-Alarm warehouse fire at the 20600 block of Northwest 47th Avenue. Miramar Fire Rescue is assisting. Crews are working on extinguishing the fire. Due to structural integrity concerns, defensive operations were initiated, with multiple aerial units attacking the flames from overhead to extinguish the fire. As a result of the fire, residents may be experiencing smoky conditions, which can impact those with respiratory conditions. Please avoid the area and if possible remain indoors. We are extremely proud of this achievement that we have accomplished together. We truly risked our lives to reach this place, as it is located very close to military deployment areas, and the road was extremely dangerous at every moment. We have now started our new project to provide clean drinking water, and this truck is heading to one of the most dangerous and heavily affected areas. The work is exhausting and extremely tiring, but the need for clean water cannot wait. Displaced families are facing a severe shortage of safe drinking water, and more people are relying on this support every day. Today, we are launching water truck number 11 as part of this project, continuing despite all challenges and risks. #Pune: Kalpataru Exquisite Society Residents In Wakad Without Water Supply For Over 48 Hours; Lifts Not Functional Too Reported by Varad Bhatkhande Pune, 27th July 2024: The severe rainfall on 24th and 25th July caused widespread disruption in Pune and the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area. Both cities faced severe flooding due to inadequate drainage systems, elevated water discharge from the dams, and rising water levels in the Mutha, Mula, and Pavana Rivers. Low-lying areas were particularly affected, with many residential societies reporting severe waterlogging in their underground basements. Residents of the Kalpataru Exquisite Society in Kaspate Wasti, Wakad, are still grappling with the flood situation two days after the rain. Frustration is growing as the newly built society faces issues such as a lack of parking, electricity, and operational lifts, along with an increase in mosquitoes. Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of drinking water, functional toilets, and operational lifts. With basements filled with knee-deep water, daily tasks are becoming increasingly difficult, especially for senior citizens and those with medical emergencies, as access to higher floors is challenging. Dattatraya Deshmukh, President of the Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation, told Punekar News, "There are drainage problems. Other societies in our area, particularly those close to the Mula River in Wakad, have faced similar issues. However, the problems in those societies were resolved the same day or the next, but this particular society's issues persist." Chandrakant Indalkar, Additional Commissioner of PCMC and head of the Disaster Management Department told Punekar News, "The ward officials have been informed about the situation. The problem has been exacerbated due to the society's proximity to the river. We are currently taking all necessary measures to address this issue." Abhishek Gupta, a resident of Sierra Tower in Kalpataru Exquisite Society, said, "For the past two days, there has been no water in our society. The lifts were closed, but now a lift has temporarily started operating. However, the situation remains dire. Water was removed earlier using pipes, which has been a great relief for me and the more than 1,000 residents living here." In response to the situation, Rahul Kalate, former corporator of the area, has pledged to offer all possible support to the residents.

The Cottonwood Fire is a Great Basin monster. The fire is now estimated at 2,000+ acres, and it looks like it’s all of that and possibly more. At this time, all residents and visitors from Hi-Lo Cabins up to Kent Lake have been evacuated. Crews will be taking water from the Pressurized Irrigation pond. Due to this, Beaver City is asking that there is No Watering from the Pressurized Irrigation System until further notice. Fire crews worked throughout the day to assess impacted areas, confirm the safety of the residents, and provided help to transition from response to recovery. Fire Station 14 in Wrightwood, is fully staffed and remains ready to respond to any call for service within the community. We are still pleased to report that only one injury was reported during this event. Residents are encouraged to remain prepared by signing up for the Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS) and by visiting for additional preparedness information and updates. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Florida Forest Service (FFS) continue working to contain two grass fires in West Miami-Dade. According to FFS, the Quarry 2 Fire has burned approximately 17,600 acres and is 97% contained, while the Well Fire has burned approximately 1,425 acres and is 60% contained. #MDFR crews remain in remote areas of western Miami-Dade, monitoring fire activity and supporting ongoing containment efforts. Changing weather and wind conditions may cause smoke to travel well beyond the fire area. Residents and visitors may see or smell smoke in communities throughout Miami-Dade County. Seeing or smelling smoke does not necessarily mean there is a fire nearby. Only call 9-1-1 for emergencies. This helps keep emergency resources available for these grass fires and other emergencies throughout our community. If smoke impacts your area, limit time spent outdoors, keep doors and windows closed, and set air conditioning systems to recirculate. Today is 'Scott's Law Day' in Illinois, in memory of Chicago Fire Department Lt. Scott Gillian who was struck and killed on the interstate on December 23, 2000. Each year on December 23, Scott's Law Day is observed throughout the State as a day to honor public safety workers and to remind motorists to slow down, change lanes away from a stationary authorized emergency vehicle, and proceed with due regard to safety and traffic conditions.
