We had Apple IIe in my 8th grade math class in 1984. Used floppy disk all the way through college (1994). My first teaching job in 98, I had three 3.5 inch floppy disk. One for each class I taught. How things have changed. I remember my first flash (thumb) drive as well.

That disk was the operating system software. Then you needed another external drive to plug the specific program floppy into.

My mother still has hers

The floppy disk was developed at IBM under a team led by Alan Shugart, with David L. Noble playing a key engineering role. Introduced commercially in 1971, it transformed how computer data and software could be distributed. A technology once essential to computing is now a museum artifact.

Oh hey it's a horror show in the morning 😄💛

Haha have you seen a pdp-11? That’s what it REALLY looked like

All that work just to get the computer running 💀
