Related to this, it makes sense to me that creative people are often a bit childish in that they can be bad at doing the boring adult stuff like finances and turning up on time

Csikszentmihalyi called it "flow" and his book about it changed my life.

Wow. Thank you! I think back on times I've worked at being creative and failed only to relax later and get a storm of ideas. This was amazingly clear 👌

When I write or make something, it usually feels like I'm discovering something that already exists somewhere. In the most extreme cases, it will present itself in my mind wholly formed and I'll have to quickly get it out, almost like spitting out poison.

I was reading up on things regarding the brain a while ago. When they did studies on different brain waves between adults and children, they found that when adults were learning and creating, it was the same patterns when a child was playing. Sometimes when we get older, we forget how to play.

I am playing now.
