It's a little known fact that the Samaritans used to run a helpline of sorts for people who were either making obscene calls or who wanted to discuss things of a sexual nature. Nowadays there's no 'Brenda' line.

Yeah it’s a shame some men ruin things for other people, I’ve heard this many times by friends who help out with charities like Samaritans

I think it was begun as an initiative to spare women who found it too much from having to take those calls. But of course Samaritans isn't there to deal with ppl who want to abuse the volunteers or to encourage it. So now volunteers are all trained simply to end the call.
