When asked why he is opposed to mandating the Ten Commandments in public schools, Texas State Rep. James Talarico (D-Austin), in seminary to become a Baptist minister, calls the bill un-American and unchristian. "...Forcing my religion down throats through government action is not love."

Rep. James Talarico is one of the smartest young men in Congress right now. He is intelligent and comes prepared. And even though he is studying to be a Baptist minister, he doesn’t want anyone pressured into any religious activity against their will.

I love this guy. Finally a politician from Texas who isn’t embarrassing our great state. I would vote for him in a NY minute.

I am a Christian and believe me, many people quoting the Bible have a completely different take on it than I do. I did not want my daughters’ teachers telling or teaching my girls how to think about or practice religion. As a teacher I wanted to respect ALL of my students.

When the president is a greedy, vindictive, serial adulterer, perhaps he should abide by the ten commandments before forcing them on anybody else?

Also like to point out the first commandment explicitly says he’s our god and who we worship, but there are others and should be respected. Just not followed.
