We have a real problem with these so called "experimental data centers" They will drive up your electric bills, jeopardize our water supply, and are so loud you will hear them 24/7. I want to be clear. I am not going to regulate data centers, I am not going to reform data centers; as Florida Governor, I will reject and remove every data center in our state.

Politicians are allowing Data Centers to FORCE families out of their homes across the South using eminent domain. As Governor of South Carolina, I will call for an immediate one-year moratorium on new data centers and make them pay their own way. We will not allow our homes to be sacrificed for corporate profit. Not on my watch.

Data centers are important for many reasons BUT consumers should NOT have to pay higher bills to facilitate the huge amounts of electricity they eat up. The richest companies on the planet are building these centers and they should bear the costs — not you.

Virginia is not for sale. The new tax on data centers is a start, but across Virginia, from rural towns to suburbs and cities, democrats and republicans are saying the same thing - we must do better. I hear you. And I’ll keep fighting until we do.

I’m not saying they are building all these data centers to roll out the social credit scores. I’m just saying I don’t think we need all of these data centers to run ChatGPT, Grok, Claude etc. But if you did want social credit scores, you would need a lot of data centers🤔
