She was not “hearing voices.” She was not abandoned by her family. She was diagnosed with a mood disorder - never psychosis - and went to a variety of doctors who all prescribed different medications, which she took unreliably and not simultaneously. She only heard a voice one time - and that was right before she killed her kids. Extremely atypical for psychosis. She carefully planned her children’s murders down to the minute. She researched the distance of a restaurant she’d ask Patrick to go to. Added on a last-minute errand before he left. Calmly answered his phone call in the middle of her crime. Brought her children down to the basement one by one, overpowering their resistance and killing them slowly. It does seem like she had support from her family. She may have still been overwhelmed, but it’s not true that all of her cries for help went unanswered. I originally placed too much blame on the many SSRIs she was prescribed. For years on my show, I’ve talked to health professionals who have been warning about the violence-inducing effects of these drugs, and I thought Lindsay’s case may be an example of that reality. Is it still possible these SSRIs had a negative effect? Absolutely. But the case that these drove her into a psychotic episode is weak. This evidence continues to reveal, in my opinion, that Lindsay Clancy methodically murdered her children and she was fully aware of what she was doing.

When it comes to the Lindsay Clancy case, if we are going to say, “It was just the medication or the psychosis,” think about the strength, resolve, persistence, and callousness it took for Lindsay to strangle all three of her children. No matter what you think caused this, those three children are the primary victims. But feminists on TikTok don’t seem to think that. It can be true to say Lindsay was failed in a variety of ways, but at the end of the day, she methodically killed her children. We can’t say for certain that psychosis caused this. People who commit horrific crimes probably fall somewhere on a spectrum of psychosis. But if we say that no one could have done something like this without being insane, then no one is going to prison for anything. If we negate justice because of someone’s mental health diagnosis in every case, then we have no justice system.

These children tend to have smaller birth weights, are born pre-term, are severely agitated and unable to eat after delivery. The jury in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy has been sent home for the day after more than three hours of deliberations. Clancy is charged with first-degree murder, but jurors can consider the lesser included offenses of second-degree murder or manslaughter. Why is it that nobody's wearing pink for Lindsay Clancy's children? Why are there no hashtags for the actual victims? How messed up are our society's priorities that people are willing to rally around a woman who has never refuted the allegations that she killed her children and make HER the victim? Postpartum depression and psychosis are very real. But neither are an excuse to rally around her and point the finger at her husband, the system, or anything except the fact that personal responsibility still exists. Our priorities are wrong. Instead of real compassion, it’s just rinse and repeat on victimhood.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington told Fox News the Lindsay Clancy case has struck a national nerve over how mothers with postpartum mental illness are treated. "It's the message that just has reverberated throughout the whole country," Reddington said outside court Wednesday, pointing to a mental health system he said too often hands women medication and sends them on their way. Asked about the show of support for Clancy, he said: "Thank you. That's all we can say. It's amazing." Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan. She does not dispute killing them but says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.
