When pain comes, it's easy to get hung up in it and skip reflection. Transcendental meditation has helped me make that transition since 1969. TM is a very simple exercise: you sit calmly and repeat a mantra in your head until all other thoughts fade away. This brings you... show more

Explain this neurocomputationally @grok

TM is meditation divorced from context to help the rich self-justify, structured like Scientology to be maximally extractive. I gotta give it to Maharishi: he came up with a grift that got one over on the class of people that selects for the ability to get one over on others.

I find that I hit my deep core when I work so hard til exhaustion. The intuition suddenly floats to the surface and I get a deep sense of mental clarity and peace.

true creativity comes from the space below logical awareness. my ideas mostly come from being stuck in traffic

Try Prayer… instead of TM

Nervous system self-regulation

Haha, Ray the hippie.

In all seriousness, how important is the content of the mantra? Or is it just that you're repeating something that crowds out the rest of your intrusive thoughts?

Staying clear-headed under pressure beats any tactic. Any method that brings calm is an asset.

The clarity of explanation 👌

TOTAL BS ;)

Another great investor, Brad Jacobs has been doing it since high school. Why is it so difficult to get the habit?

It reminded me of when I started practicing TM about 35 years ago. That mantra is no ordinary word; it is a personalized word that, when repeated enough times, brings about change. Its specific vibration (unique to each individual) quiets the activity of the conscious mind…

Meditation sounds cool but where's the fun in just sitting there? 😈

Love these guys. The pod just goes anywhere wild and converge at getting closer to making that @myfirstmilpod

Thers a better way, prayer has greater effects to mental health than emptying the mind.

Ray, TM has been your trusted practice for decades. If you’re curious, I’d be happy to walk you through Daoist internal alchemy — another mind-body system built to quiet mental noise and uncover deeper intuitive insight.

TM is effective bc the mantra that’s assigned can’t be “interpreted” so the person can’t get attached to the meaning. This helps bypass the mind’s filters, and one can go deeper into the subconscious mind.

Meditation is the gift I was given freely, but I would not give it up for millions

Since 1969, the brain has had a long bull run—TM sounds like the mute button finally shipped.

We call it ‘Mantra Japa’. Ultimately, what you want is that every cell of your body vibrates with that same frequency of the mantra and things begin to happen effortlessly. But to achieve that, one needs consistency, discipline and effort. Same time. Same place. Everyday!

mantra repetition feels less like transcendence and more like a fancy way to zone out. does the silence

Meditation is interesting. I suppose it really does align with traders since its reflection. Cultivation is similar but it’s more like cultivation change. Changing the substrate.

Thanks for sharing your experience with TM, Ray—sounds like a powerful tool for creativity and reflection.

Ray, this is great advice. I try doing breath work + meditation regularly and it has helped me tremendously. Love to see you talk about this topic.

I have tried out few different meditations, and they all have helped me. Have you created any books or audio on these? I would love to share and spread. I meditate twice daily.

The people of the world are suffering because of the repulsive egos of madmen like Putin, Donald Trump, Khamenei, Hamas, Netanyahu, and Zelenskyy.
