When reading diffusion papers, my most common reaction is "mkay the math works out but WHY WOULD A SANE PERSON CHOOSE TO DO THIS". This included the (foundational) DDPM formulas. The saving grace is that you can visualize it as 2D particle motion and get a solid intuition.

Why do we do math in school? When I asked this question as a kid, my teachers always told me, "You'll use it one day." That's almost always false. Most adults are never going to be in a sticky situation with two binomials, thinking, thank goodness I can FOIL my way out of this mess. Most of us get by just fine without ever solving for x again. And especially in an Al age, fewer and fewer people will "use math" in the narrow, practical sense. But the origins of math have never been primarily about utility. Math is formative. It trains the mind to love what is true, to recognize what is orderly, and to be drawn toward what is beautiful. It teaches us that the universe is not chaos, but something intelligible, something structured, something that can be known. And you can see that truth made visible in the world's most breathtaking churches and cathedrals: arches, vaults, domes, proportions, symmetry, harmony, light-geometry turned into glory. The mathematics that shapes a cathedral is not cold or sterile. It's the language of wonder, carved into stone. We don't teach math because everyone will use it. We teach math because it forms the kind of person who can see that reality has meaning.

And then I try to feel and visualize what would be my reaction if that person came in to me and quit. If my reaction to that is, 'Yes! I don't want to smile, so I don't want to act like I'm happy about this. Nobody likes firing people. No problem at all, we'll replace them'—that's a C player. Get off the phone and read a book. Last weekend I spent several hours going through Dante's Inferno and using Claude to reteach myself the lessons in it. You can do that now. You can have a genuine conversation with AI about one of the greatest works in human history and come out smarter than when you started. Instead most people are scrolling through 30-second videos that have absolutely nothing to do with their lives. Dopamine hits. That's all it is. You get to choose what goes into your head. Choose better.

I can't stop thinking about this... If I have a plug or a hack to get a better deal or more food, would I share it online? Probably not, the chances that it would ruin it me or the company is pretty high. Especially if other locations catch on. I feel that if I shared this, what would happen is more and more people would try to take advantage of it and the store would issue a policy to stop it. What I’m conflicted about is, by ordering a taco in a bowl, I would be getting a $15 bowl for $4. Is it my fault the company has a loophole like that, or should I even feel guilty about exploiting it if it’s only for my benefit? Or is it a scenario where everything is fair game because the restaurant allows us to do that. Whose fault is it that we figured out how to get their pricier item for less? Someone else called it theft, but is this really theft if it’s allowed? They allow us to put our taco shell in a bowl. They allow us to ask for as many extras that we want. So would I really be the bad guy for taking advantage of this? I figured if this was a real issue the store would have stopped it, and to this day as far as I know, anyone can still do this. When I get a chance this week I’ll go and try to do this again to see if it still works, I’ll keep you posted.

this guy is the antithesis of this, and I think of this video often (and before some angry guys get in here - it works both ways, both partners should be trying to do this) "I think one of the most important things is finding the tiniest and smallest things you can do to serve your significant other ... and so my job is to figure out what she needs and do it, and more importantly try to do that before someone has to ask you to do it... I'll be honest, it's the small things"

It is well......it hurts but it is well. This is being put out because over here we are trying to stay calm. Dede is hurting, her loved ones are upset and hurting. The game is the game they say. But it gets to a point because there is so much one can take.....we sincerely pray she finds a way to let out, and not keep it all in. It's shocking that someone who knows the spiritual connotation of PEEING on something, would not only do the ACT, but discuss it surface level, laugh and make jokes about it. Do we point out; The mental implications? The health implications? The spiritual implications? Because what are the odds? What are the odds that out of 28 boxes, you found that ONE BOX, of that one person you despise the most? In a man's drunken state, he carries out hidden intentions unconsciously. A closed box was opened, contents peed on, saying it's a transfer of aggression? You failed to put a human face to it...you showed how callous you can be....you jumped and made merry at men agreeing to form alliance because of her. Was it unintentional? Why did your immediate reaction scream INTENTIONAL? why is your delayed reaction screaming DAMAGE CONTROL? Failure is a teacher. If you have success, you did it right, so there is probably nothing to learn. But if you have failure, there is something to learn. You have to make the most of your failures. Over time, I developed an instinctual reaction to failure. My instinct now is to view failure as a puzzle that will give me gems if I can solve it. The puzzle is simply this: What would I do differently in the future so as not to have that result? When you solve that puzzle, you write the lesson down.
