During the call, he noticed several red flags—most notably that the support representative appeared to be a Chinese national working out of China. Recognizing the potential national security concern, Mr. Paulin immediately began recording the call and asked the representative to confirm her name and location, which she did, stating she was employed by Microsoft in China. Alarmed by the situation, Mr. Paulin shared the incident on LinkedIn and tagged key government officials, including the DoD Chief Information Officer. To my knowledge, he never received a reply back from anyone at @DeptofDefense and it remained unreported. Additionally, the directive banned foreign engineers from supporting U.S. military systems, declaring: “China will no longer have any involvement whatsoever in our cloud services.” “Foreign engineers – from any country, including of course China – should NEVER be allowed to maintain or access DoD systems.” The revelation that China has infiltrated the entire cyber system of the US Government via Microsoft Government was fully exposed on Loomer Unleashed. However, after Hegseth’s memo was released, Schiller and I discussed our concerns about its implementation. 1. That the investigation might be handed over to the very individuals and entities previously implicated in obstruction and complicity of Chinese espionage. 2. That the memo might lack clear language barring individuals without security clearances—including U.S. citizens—from accessing government and DoD systems. Last week, China launched a massive cyberattack, including a direct hit on the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Agency. The timing?
