The new Giga Texas Optimus factory foundation work continues with three distinct sections under construction. On the south end of what I think may be phase 1 of the construction, the large depressed graded area has had about .5 to 1 meters of gravel and crushed concrete added and now GeoPier equipment is at work. On the middle section, dense footings of two primary types are being constructed, suggesting heave loading of the structure in this area. On the north end, it’s mainly flat grade with little footing work so far. I say I *think* this might be a two phase construction project because the north perimeter grade beam is laid out as if it is the final configuration, but the south end is not. There is a large field south of this area that, with reclamation work, could support a doubling of the structure, if that was desired.

17 June 2026 Giga Texas Snapshots! I’m back after a few weeks away in Europe & visiting Giga Berlin (a fantastic factory too!) so today I decided to try and get a good overall look at the activity & changes here since I was away, and there is really a lot to cover … almost too much! Cybercab production continues with many of these vehicles lined up at the factory exit point & more int the outbound lot. I saw a Model Y production going strong too, with several in the new shades of blue recently announced too! The 4680 battery cell portion of the factory was getting concrete delivered inside where I’ve observed demolition & expansion work underway to increase production capacity & this is backed up with several new permits filed over the past few days! The Test track has had more work on it including paint marks, dedicated lanes w/ dividers & a Cybercab testing office & vehicles that have been recently observed driving on the track for some kind of testing. The E side where the new joint venture with SpaceX Advanced Chip fab is being constructed was getting GeoPier work, while more preparations were underway to relocate active workshops & recycling yards further to the N to clear space for additional construction. Cortex 2 part 2 chiller system fan tower seems nearly completed structurally, while more pipes, vale’s & wrapped items remain to be installed. The N Optimus factory shows significant work with steel erection (up to 4 floors), GeoPier work on the N end, grade work on the S end, land reclamation on the extreme S & footing construction in the middle. This will truly be a massive factory once completed w/ floor space a significant % of the main factory! Much more going on today! It’s great to be back!

This is a high altitude view of the entire North Campus construction site at Giga Texas where the new 10M/yr Optimus factory is being constructed! The approach is similar to what we saw with the main factory building when it began construction. Grade preparation & old sand & gravel mine reclamation work, while GeoPiers put in piers to support footings & then steel erection beginning int eh center part of the structure, then proceeding to the N & then S as the structure assembly progresses. Tesla construction uses an agile & Minimum Essential Capability (MEC) approach which means we are likely to see portions of the factory be completed more quickly than other portions to allow the start of equipment installation & initial testing before the rest of the structure is completed. I also think we are seeing this in two main parts … the first where the structure is rising now & the second, further south where ground reclamation work is still needed before grade preparation can begin. Again, this is very reminiscent of how the main factory was constructed in 2020 through 2022.

Construction in multiple locations continues at Giga Texas today as the test track takes shape & features really begin to emerge (might be a great place to demo the new Roadster 🤔🤠). On the E side, the site clearing for the new Advanced Technology Fab is underway, with more demo of old structures, material movement & River Rd extension next to where the Riverpark will be constructed next to the Colorado River. On the far N side, more grade work is underway today, now encompassing almost all of the large rectangular field. Check out these short views today & look for much more in my main video later today!

On the S end, the land reclamation work and extension of the site continues too, along with footing construction now at the N angled corners of the foundation! Check out the scale of one column being installed with humans for scale to get a better idea just how large this factory truly is!

New views of the rapidly growing Tesla Optimus factory here at Giga Texas. This is the one 10m/year factory that is in addition to the Optimus factory coming online later this year at the Fremont factory. That one is the 1M/yr pilot line, in case you were wondering. This structure has grown to 13 column grid spaces N-S, meaning it is now nearing 600’ long (~190 m) so far & will continue to grow much longer as earth reclamation work continues on the far S of the site. A lot more steel has been delivered to the site and the 7 cranes at work are assembling this steel onto the structure almost as fast as it arrives. Last week on my Wednesday flight, it was just starting the 9th column grid length, so this should give you an idea how fast it is growing!

Big news at the new Optimus 10m/y factory construction site today! The 1st steel structure has been erected & as expected the second phase of land reclamation is underway. This will allow this new factory to grow to nearly the same length as the main Giga Texas factory, although it will be a few hundred feet (~50 - 70 m) narrower. If you did not realize the massive size of this new factory, this should tell you all you need to know! A lot of steel beams & columns were being delivered to the site today and using the new staging yard in the nearby “lone tree” field. Check out this short clip showing the expansion, the steel structure & more of the foundation work!

29 May 2026 Giga Texas Snapshots! AS I get ready to head off to Europe for a few weeks to attend the Tesla Club Austria Takeover Europe event, Here is an extended snapshots video clip showing a site absolutely brimming with activity. Today is also a rare production day to make up for the holiday on Monday. Cybercabs all over the place today, exiting the factory, driving in the outbound lot for transport pickup, many with their hatches open prepping for final inspections and more! The refreshed Tesla Semi with extended cab removed at the Crash Testing facility today too! Construction in 4 major sites is really moving along today too, including more steel erection at the N Optimus factory site, and the extension ground reclamation work continues to progress. The E Advanced Tech Chip fab shows more earth preparation and Cortex 2 part 2 of the cooling system getting 4 of these 6 fan units installed while more Megapacks have arrived and are being installed. The SW Test Track is also getting work done on it, with some new excavation work and pipe installation along with new concrete curbs. So mush more to see today and I hope you enjoy this slightly loner snapshots look at the factory today. See you in a few weeks!

Rebar is in place for more pours, the new tall crane is assembled and working the slab, and the last reinforced footings on the south end are still going in. This is the joint Tesla / SpaceX ATCF on the east side of Giga Texas and it is a ~490,000 sq ft research fab. Heavily vibration-isolated foundation (GeoPiers, pedestal piers, massive footings) because chip lithography can’t tolerate movement. It’s the prototype: logic, memory, packaging, and test under one roof so they can make a chip, test it, revise the mask, and repeat without shipping wafers. This is also the precursor to the much larger Terafab in Grimes County. Chips here are meant for Optimus, Cybercab, future Tesla vehicles, and SpaceX Starmind / orbital compute. Foundation work is moving fast.

The N Optimus factory foundation continues to make progress too, especially with the site drying up. GeoPiers, Rebar cages, pedestal footings & three levels of grade evident today. Cortex 2 prep for more Megapacks today, with transformer installation nearing completion & part 2 of the cooling system coming together. The new test track is getting more asphalt laid down in several different locations & some infield grade work too. There are vehicles on some of the paved driving surfaces to give a better sense of scale and width of the road surfaces! Cybertruck production still seems fairly slow, but I’m hoping to see this pick up. On the S end, land reclamation work continues too, with more fill dirt, Geotextile membranes & the silt fences have been relocated further S along with more tree and vegetation removal. The full extent of the site and ultimate length of the building continues to evolve!

Most of the progress is on the main foundation which for now appears rectangular, GeoPiers are at work on the part of the foundation that has had gravel mix placed on the top soil and more work grading on the south end. Since I always get this question, this is NOT the Terafab that will be built likely a 100 miles or so to the east in Grimes Country, Texas. This is the smaller development facility that is the first part of the overall AI Chip development program.

The Giga Texas Optimus Factory has made a lot of progress with ground work, GeoPiers & now the steel superstructure which has grown to 4 Floors, at least in the sender section! This is similar to the main factory construction and I suspect we will see varying levels throughout the structure as it continues to build out. This means that with the extension work to the south to reclaim even more land to further lengthen the structure, it will have a meaningful % of the 11 Million Sq Ft of the main factory, so this is truly becoming a massive factory! A large steel staging yard in nearby in the “lone tree” field & several large cranes are at work actively adding more steel as they build out from the center, again, very similar to how the main factory was constructed.
