Today I visited the Bhutni islet in Malda district's Manikchak, a large part of which got inundated recently due to flooding. The Bhutni islet, situated between the mighty Ganges and Fulahar rivers, is vulnerable to flooding. The recent flood affected around 1.5 lakh people in Bhutni. The recent floods destroyed homes & livelihoods, especially affecting farmers who lost their crops. The State Govt did nothing to maintain and repair the river embankment in due time and when the water level rose, a major disaster happened. If the WB Govt had timely repaired the embankments, this disaster could have been averted. The relief efforts of the State Govt were also inadequate, laced with allegations of theft and mismanagement. I met the family members of the deceased who lost their lives during the floods and assured them of any possible help that they require. Later on I distributed relief materials to 4000 people on behalf of BJP West Bengal. Lastly, I went to observe the riverbank where land erosion has become a pertinent problem.

#Hyderabad: #Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has alleged that Hyderabad Metro Phase-2 is stalled by the Centre. He said Phase-1 cost rose from ₹15,000 cr to ₹22,000 cr and accused the Telangana With KCR govt of failing to expand Metro to key areas. Kalgidhar Society – Baru Sahib was among first responders to floods. When they sensed scale of tragedy, they quickly mobilized resources and rushed to help. How were they so prepared? Because this wasn’t their first time. During 2005–06 J&K earthquake, they ran relief ops with 450 volunteers for 40 days. They built 1867 houses, 3 temples, 3 mosques & 4 gurdwaras, Army’s library & mess, and even helped on other side of LOC. This act left local Muslims in tears & they were surprised to see Sikhs helping in a region where no Sikh lived. Kalgidhar Society teams told them that it’s in Sikh teachings to serve humanity beyond religion, caste & color. They showed shabad from Guru Granth Sahib Ji: “Awwal Allah noor upaya, kudrat ke sab bandey Ek noor te sab jag upjaya, koun bhalley koun mandey” This same spirit is alive again in Panjab today. People from different states & religions jumped in to support victims of #PunjabFloods

Thank you Chicago for helping the Texas flood areas! PAWS Chicago - DISASTER RELIEF: “Late last night, our first of two transports from Texas arrived, bringing pets from shelters affected by the July 4 flash floods in the Texas Hill Country. These 22 dogs were in shelters before the floods began, and by bringing them to Chicago, those shelters now have more room to help the pets who were displaced by the storms and reunite lost pets with their families. Yesterday, these pups were flown into Nebraska on a Wings of Rescue flight from Concho Valley PAWS, a rescue organization based in San Angelo, Texas. Our volunteers were standing by to greet them and begin the final leg of their journey-driving more than 500 miles to bring them safely to our Medical Center. Today, they'll be seen by our vets and start the care they need to become adoption ready here in Chicago. #ISPR Rawalpindi, 29 August, 2025 Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (#COAS) #Pakistan Army, visited flood affected areas of #Punjab including Sialkot Sector, Shakargarh, Narowal and Kartarpur. The visit was aimed to review the flood situation and the ongoing rescue and relief efforts. COAS was given a comprehensive brief on the prevailing situation and the preparations for the next spell of rains. COAS appreciated the troops and the civil administration for their coordinated and untiring efforts in rescuing and providing relief to the masses in affected areas. COAS also interacted with the affected Sikh community of the area and assured the community that all religious sites affected during floods, including Durbar Sahib Kartarpur, will be completely revived to their original condition at priority. He reiterated that it is the responsibility of the state and its institutions to protect the minorities and their religious sites and the state of Pakistan will leave no stone unturned to uphold its responsibility towards the minorities. The Sikh Community welcomed the arrival of COAS with warmth at the flood affected areas of Sialkot Sector. The Sikh Community thanked the Army Chief for the services being extended by the civil administration and the Army during the calamity. COAS also undertook the aerial flyover of Durbar Sahib Kartarpur. During interaction with representatives of civil administration, COAS appreciated the proactive response which helped minimise the loss of lives and property. While interacting with troops, the COAS commended their high morale, operational readiness, and commitment for serving the nation. He appreciated their services for the people during rescue and relief operations under challenging circumstances. The ₹18,500 Cr Tunnel Scam is not a mobility solution, it's a world-class corruption project by the Congress Govt in the state led by CM Siddaramaiah & DCM DK Shivakumar. It aims to serve the 10% car owning elite while burdening 90% of taxpayers who await better public transport. Here’s why: 1. Built for cars, not the city As per IISc data: - Tunnel (cars only): 600-1600 people/hour - Tunnel (with 2Ws): 7,500 people/hour - Metro (same corridor): 25,000 people/hour Yet, the govt wants to spend taxpayer money on a project for less than 10% who own private cars. This is perhaps only going to benefit the crorepatis of Sadashivnagar & Koramangala 4th block & not the common man. 2. BBMP's ₹9.5 Cr Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V DPR job BBMP paid a hefty sum of public money to allegedly debarred consultants for a bogus feasibility report. Some blatant irregularities in their reports - - Feasibility report created after Jan 2024, uses traffic survey images from Aug 2023 - Traffic junction photo from 2019 appears in a 2024 report. - Even worse, the reports refer to Malegaon-Nashik in Maharashtra while analyzing Bengaluru's traffic! This isn't planning, it's daylight robbery. It's a Rs 9.5 Cr fraud paid for with hard earned taxpayers money. 3. India’s most expensive road per km. If executed, the ₹18,500 crore Tunnel Road will be the most expensive road per kilometre in the world. Will they build it with golden bricks? Why this vanity White Elephant? Having witnessed the extent of the #AssamFloods over the last two days, I chaired a meeting with my Cabinet colleagues and senior officials to review the evolving situation and further strengthen our response. Our immediate priorities are: ✅ Ensure uninterrupted availability and distribution of rice, pulses and safe drinking water to every affected family. ✅ Ensure adequate stocks of sanitary napkins, baby food and other essentials, while creating child-friendly spaces in all relief camps. ✅ Keep the Health Department on the highest level of alert to prevent any outbreak of water-borne or communicable diseases. ✅ Undertake a comprehensive assessment of livestock losses across all flood-affected districts. ✅ Complete preparatory work for the restoration of damaged roads and repair of breached embankments so that work begins immediately after floodwaters recede. ✅ Hon’ble Ministers will visit all flood-affected districts to ensure every department contributes effectively to relief, restoration and rehabilitation efforts. While the situation remains challenging, the entire State machinery is working round the clock to support relief operations and ensure timely assistance reaches every affected person. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and respond with speed, coordination and compassion until normalcy is restored.

Over the past few days, I have been personally monitoring and reviewing the relief and rehabilitation efforts underway across the flood and landslide-affected areas of North Bengal following the extreme rainfall earlier this month. Day before yesterday, I had visited Hasimara in Alipurduar, and yesterday, I travelled to Nagrakata, Chalsa, Mal, and Kurseong, meeting affected families, interacting with officials, and overseeing the ongoing restoration work on the ground. Today, I shall visit the other side of Mirik to personally assess the situation in the landslide-affected areas and ensure that every affected person receives the support they need. Tomorrow, I will convene an administrative meeting for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Mirik. During my visit to Nagrakata, I interacted with the residents at the relief camps in Bamandanga and Tandoo, ensuring that food, shelter, and medical facilities are being provided without interruption. I also reviewed the repair work of the Tanatani Bridge over the river Gathia, which was severely damaged during the flash floods, and later inspected the Kalikhola Bridge, now restored by the Public Works Department. At the Bamandanga relief camp, I had the opportunity to hand over appointment letters for Home Guard employment to the family members of flood victims as part of our comprehensive rehabilitation initiative. Ten beneficiaries, including eight from Jalpaiguri and two from Cooch Behar, received their letters today. I have also announced that every family whose house has been damaged in the calamity will receive financial assistance of ₹1.2 lakh for reconstruction under our State scheme. Our Maa-Mati-Manush Sarkaar has mobilised all resources to ensure comprehensive, round-the-clock relief operations. Special camps have been set up to help citizens recover essential documents lost in the floods, while students who lost their books are being provided new study materials. Food kits, disaster management supplies, and other essentials are being distributed extensively across all affected areas. Natural calamities are beyond our control, but our compassion, preparedness, and collective resolve define our response. The courage, grit, and perseverance of the people of North Bengal continue to inspire me. Our State Government will remain by your side, every hour, every day, until normalcy is fully restored.
