While Romualdez preaches about transparency and accountability, his Congress appears to conceal records detailing budget appropriation. Tiangco questions the unavailability of Small Committee report yet all that Marcos and Suansing came up with are excuses. The report is missing.

Chairperson Mika Suansing is not Zaldy Co If I remember correctly —- the 19th Congress voted to vacate the Committee on Appropriations Chair position and the move was initiated by the then Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos. So, I wonder why Congressman Toby Tiangco would expect the new Chairperson of the Committee on Appropriations to defend the work of her predecessor. Another very valid question is the fact that he was also a member of the Committee on Appropriations in the 19th Congress — if he had concerns then, he had all the power and authority to demand what he is demanding the new chairperson now. Congresswoman Suansing was correct! If Congressman Tiangco wants to know where and what are the changes made in the “small committee” —- he can differentiate the HGAB as filed with the version approved on third reading. What is 7,000 pages for the advocate of the truth? Lols As the Vice Chairperson of the said committee in the 19th Congress, he has the knowledge as to how to navigate the General Appropriations Bill more than any of us would. And if he was true to his role then, he would be able to identify this easily. Duterte pages and influencers are quick to amplify this interpellation as if it proves anything — if they are really against the 2025 General Appropriations Act. Why aren’t any of them asking Senate President Chiz Escudero about his 142 Billion insertions? Why was he in the House of Representatives twice during the budget season last year? Or the relationship of Senator Joel Villanueva and Senator Bong Go with the contractors as reported on the news. Hmmm… very telling, huh? I, too, would like to know the explanation of Zaldy Co amidst all the allegations thrown at him, the same way I demand for an explanation from the Senate President. The fact remains — Martin Romauldez was the first to agree on the opening of the bicameral conference committee to the public, he actually opened the doors of the House wider than ever before. He abolished the “small committee” and invited the participation of Civil Society Organizations. Let Congresswoman Mika Suansing and Senator Win Gatchalian deliver the most transparent budget ever in the history of the Philippines — call them out for their own mistakes. Do not trap them on the issues and mistakes of whomever. Let them do their jobs! Video:
