The successful catch shaking animation is different than almost-catch, starting from the very first shake. For a long time I felt like I've "somehow known" when a catch is a success, on the first shake. I suspected that actually I was just getting lucky and letting confirmation bias get the best of me. But no! Here is a successful catch (pinkish ghost) overlayed with a near miss. You can see the successful catch shakes are slower, making it appear to lag behind. So you really can train your brain to spot the difference after all 😁
