@aChildOf2Worlds Could it be that Africans who own homes in the UK sell up and use the funds to build a house back home to retire, instead of passing it down to their children? I have met four people who were upset their parents did this to them, all from Ghana btw so its limited data.

@aChildOf2Worlds This is definitely something to consider yes.

100% what you said, the 20+% that we are even in today is mostly from the last 25years. The 70s, 80s & 90s Africans always thot about “building at home”, Black Tax was hammering them too. Many built houses back home, debatable if it was worth it.

Yep!!!! Quite a bit of anecdotal evidence about this.

A significant percentage of Africans even today still want to own properties at home first before they consider home ownership in the UK. They understand that the properties at home is security, especially with the constant immigration rhetoric, that's their safety net.

This is true for some yes. Although some have to deal with the reality of infrastructural and healthcare challenges (If they've not prepared themselves)

Why does the study separate Black Carribbeans and Black Africans but Asians and White people are homogenised? That's the real conversation. Side note. Home ownership should be made a big point. It is the basis of any social foundation. Without there is no planning for future.

Black Africans immigrants are home owners in their country of origin. the build home first before becoming home owner abroad.

Too many Africans would rather build multiple properties in Africa, than use that money to build or buy properties in the UK. But that is changing and would continue to stay with their children like myself who would continue doing what we need to do here.

Black African will also most likely own land or property in Africa.

Such a fantastic take! I actually get very angry when people criticise their parents choices to build back home. I think our generation forget this is not our land, and if push comes to shove they can and will send us all packing. Our parents have never forgotten.

I have decided to do something about it by helping 1000 families move from renting to owning their first home through @JoinMission1000

Totally agree with your take. I was born in the UK in the 70s, all throughout my early childhood, I would hear that we were going back to Nigeria one day. That never happened. My parents own multiple properties there, yet they’re still here in their 70s.

Go and buy a home in your own country, there is not even enough housing here for British people, and it would also help your own country because it puts money into the economy.

You are spot on 💯

You are absolutely right. I was thinking he was going to give that reason too.

Spot on

Black Africans build their house back in Africa first. Almost all African professionals own a home back in Africa

The correlation is lower median wealth means lower home ownership, no shade just the facts. Carribbean median wealth is £125,000 compared to £34,000 for black African households and £314,000 for white British households.

Shouldn't britian. That tiny island. Really be worried about actual British people owning homes. Everyone else is an invasive peoples.
