I found some brass screw eyes at a hardware store and thought, “Maybe these could work as hinges.” So I decided to make a small box using them. I also used a brass rod for the hinge pin. Some of you may have wondered why I hammered the screw eyes at the beginning. Hammering helps correct their shape, slightly increases the inner diameter, and also flattens them a little. I really like how the brass works with the African mahogany, and I’m happy with how this original idea turned out.
